Solidarity sister! I so agree. It is ridiculous to give billions away when we are in debt and have thousands displaced by Katrina. Do we wanna end up like the countries we try so desperately to help?

I think that some people are called to do missions in this country and some are called to other countries. You obviously care about this subject and you should get involved with an organization in your area, or start one up. If you go about it the right way, I bet you can get a great response. God bless you and your efforts. Send a message if you need anything.

tell me about it.... I was homeless again last winter and about froze to death. My mother let me come home this time, but it's so humiliating. Now she reminds me I was only suppose to stay until it got warmer.
I've got a master's degree and want to work, but no one will let me. I can only handle part-time, but want to make a difference, use my ed. and want to take care of myself. But I can't live on less then $800/mo. disability. I'm almost 54 yrs. old and my health isn't good at all.
If I just had housing I could do things to make a difference in the world, use my ed. to do non-profit work. But I can't do anything while living in my truck.
I'm going to so much miss the internet. I found I couldn't get anything really done from library computers when I was homeless. I bought this computer when I was working and it's my one not totally necessary expense- my internet connection. I'm so scared, and feel so worthless being such a failure in life!

I wonder that also, the Government sends money overseas to build houses for the homeless while our own homeless live in cardboard boxes, the Government sends food overseas to feed the hungry while many in our own country are going hungry, the Government sends medicines overseas to help those with AIDS and other diseases and get health care, while our own people need the same things, yet our own get NO HELP...why is that? There is little value for the government to help their own unless it is so big that it can't be ignored i.e.Katrina. Fortunately there are many local organization that do. Peace.

Because the government supports corporations and wastes more tax dollars on the military, than anything else.

You are absolutely right:charity starts at home, but the American expansionist policies take them beyond their own borders.
