I have played when I was a teenager (at a friend's house). I personally did not experience anything but my mom always knew when I did because she heard (late at night, when I was sleeping) all my toys dropping suddenly, first one at a time and then all the box. She checked my room to see what had happen, but it was alright. She asked me to stop playing with it, I did it, and there where no more noises... I think there can not be a scientific explanation, maybe depends on personal perception

First of all, you don't 'play' with the ouija board. I've used the ouija board since I was a little girl and nothing bad has ever happened to me. No, it is not a gateway to you know where nor is it evil. It has actually been of valuable use to me on several occasions. Whenever I consult my ouija board, I light a candle and ask the Goddess to watch over and guide me. I then set out a bowl or something with blessed water in it. I then ask the spirits kindly and respectfully if there is a message that I need to know or I ask for permission to ask a question of the spirit or spirits that are present. Some may call me weird or a nutcase, but that is their opinion.
Actually, what your cousin describes sounds awfully like a movie that came out years ago that centered the plot around a person who used the ouija board alone.
And Milton Bradley was not the first to have the concept of a 'talking board'. Such things have been around since the Old Ways.

I did a very long time ago. I have some real premonitions sometimes that come out to be true but the Ouija board really didn't do anything to answer any questions. I think that generally the Ouija board is a parlor game. I suppose it might be in the realm of possiblity that they work sometimes for some people. I seriously doubt that a manufactured item in mass production can really be counted on to attract spirits and correct answers. But who knows. I guess anything is possible. I don't think traditional science can explain it now though I wouldn't rule out the possibility that it can at some future time. Your cousin could also be pulling your leg or have an overactive imagination!

Despite the fact that I *do* believe in ouija boards (and ghosts/spirits for that matter too), I think what your cousin said sounds more like a "tall tale" than the truth. It certainly sounds exciting/scary, but I don't think there's any physical way possible for someting to be burned up, and then appear again the next day.
I've never heard of anything like that happening as a result of folks playing with ouija boards, and I speak from personal experience as well as from the experience of my friends.
At any rate, the most "success" I ever had with a ouija board was not as one of the folks with my hands on the planchette, but as the asker of the questions. I was at a party and my friends decided I should try asking questions. A guy and a gal (who didn't really even know each other) sat with their hands on the planchette, and I started asking things. I felt really awkward at first -- I didn't know what to say, and when I did ask things, I felt like I sounded fake and cheesy.
However, things got interesting and weird very fast! We apparently were "talking" with a spirit named George or Randy. I'm not sure which it was, but whoever it was, he was KILLED by the person of the other name, whom he thought was his friend. (How horrid is that?) He said a few mundane things about himself, but what I remember the most vividly is that he said "my spirit is restless." This was 16 to 18 years ago, and I still get tears in my eyes when I think about it. I felt so lonely and sad when I saw the planchette spelled out those words! :(
And -- here's an interesting site note -- the guy and girl using the board had their eyes CLOSED the whole time, so there's NO way that their subconscious mind was moving their hands to spell things, based on looking at the letters on the board. Words were spelled quickly and precisely, even though they guy and girl were not looking!
Another weird thing is that at times, the planchette started moving so quickly, that it fell right off the laps of the guy and girl, who were sitting cross-legged iwth the board between them. I know they did not plan to drop the planchette, because they both were totally shocked and freaked out when the planchette fell from their fingers (one of us would place it back on the board).
So, there's my ouija board experience. Sorry it's so long, but you DID ask! :) Fortunately nothing scary or dangerous happened to us as a result of it, although I *have* heard odd/disconcerting rumours like the one your cousin spoke of. So, who knows? I think I'd just as soon NOT try a ouija board again.

wow thats freaky.. my mom's friend did it when she was young she was too freaked out to be a part of it.. i dont know if its true..
Ouija (pronounced wee-juh or wee-jee) refers to the belief that one can receive messages during a séance by the use of a Ouija board (also called a talking board or spirit board) and planchette. The fingers of the participants are placed on the planchette which then moves about a board covered with numbers, letters and symbols so as to spell out messages.
The accepted theory is that the participants are subconsciously making small, involuntary, physical movements using a well-known, and well-understood, phenomenon called the Ideomotor effect. Experiments consistently suggest that, at best, the messages are received involuntarily from the participants themselves, and, at worst, by a manipulative player, possibly with the connivance of confederates within the group present.
Skeptic and magician James Randi, in his book An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural, points out that when blindfolded, Ouija board operators are unable to produce intelligible messages. Magicians Penn & Teller performed a similar demonstration in an episode of their television show Bullshit!.
These failures indicate that people are simply very willing to fool themselves, for example, by the Forer effect. The public (and frequently energetically flaunted) expression of native and genuine fears and subconscious desires, often concerning death or sex, while appearing genuine, can frighten impressionable people, or cause them to loosen their purse strings (or both). It is for this reason alone that many suggest that the Ouija board is best avoided, particularly when each player may not absolutely trust, or know, every other player.

I had a Ouija board although I believe it's at my parents house. In high school, I asked it some questions about my future college and other things and the answers all came out to be true.
I never had any extremely weird things happen like your cousin did, but I have heard of people who said they threw it away and it came back.
Not many people take the game seriously and if you play with people who don't take it seriously, it won't work.

certain I actually have. multiple circumstances. Im not particular what to imagine about the "mystical" or "evil" powers of the game, yet i am going to allow you to comprehend a million element it quite is definitely real about the Ouija. The "oracle" looks to bypass on it really is own at some factors, yet you won't be able to in any respect fairly tell if somebody else who's partaking in recreation play with you, is shifting it. If it changed into merely shifting on it really is on then the responces we were given, we couldn't make any experience out of them. you're meant to continually go away the oracle on see you later once you're complete asking questions or it really is seen undesirable success. some say The Ouija is reliable, and a thanks to achieve lost loved ones or spirit courses, and some say The Ouija is undesirable or evil, and invitations unfavorable means, demons, or evil spirits into your relatives or existence. there is been comments of kids getting injurd taking section in the board, like scatches or burns, yet i have not in any respect experienced some thing of the variety. Its all fairly opinion, hypothesis, or mind's eye as to what the forums fairly about. I merely fooled round with it, and did not take it too severe. There are curiously regulations and regulations you may wanna analyze beforehand taking section in too. All in all, its between the oldest board "video games" ever to be made and it particular has stirred up a variety of of controversy and notoriety for itself.

Everytime the ouija board worked, someone was cheating - I'm the kind of person that wants to believe in spirutal forces just beyond our perceptions, but ouija IS FAKE! Sorry.
HE SAID THAT..... <-- should be your first clue
Try Futhark Rune Casting or tea leaves, if you want something with a little more historical backing - Ouija made by milton bradley.

The board has a neutral function but somehow its been taken advantage of by earthbound spirits.
Like regular people off the street .. who want to get you attention want something out of you.
Now if your a teenager with alot of hormonal activity the things flying around the room might actually be a subconscious thing. I have a friend who's shoe would fly around the room while he slept and his mother got so tired of it she would pound on the wall and tell him to knock it off.
Nothing scary it just.. alot of this stuff tends to happen to younger teens especially children. Just dont be afraid of it. Fear often can cause apparitions so appear more vividly or cause more stunts around the home. But they cant hurt you.. they can just scare you into thinking they can.
As for the board itself .. Ive never seen a trustworthy spirit come through.. rarely I have but you can pry near it.. douse it with sage.. and it can still let a bum screw with you from the other side.
Don't play with this medium as it seems to just.. constantly attract jerk offs.

Mainstream science cant cover this one. Your cousin needs to learn to shield himself from the negative forces involved with opening ouija portals to the spirit world. Dont know if you or your cousin are pagan, but pick up a good book about shielding. I'd also suggest doing a banishment to get rid of whatever's been invited in.
