What faith came first Animism or Polytheism?

I would think it would be animism. As far as polytheism, I believe that came around a little later because I know that animism was around before dreamtime, zoastrianism, and even I think before sumer. I'm not really too sure because religion isn't my strongest subject.

My guess is animism. My beliefs are both animistic and polytheistic.
