"Autoethnographic Research" is basically a narrow focus of Anthropology.

According to "Dictionary.com", "Ethnographic" is; the branch of anthropology that deals with the scientific description of specific human cultures.

"Autoethnographic" then, would be the scientific description of ones' own culture.

Doing a google search of "Autoethnographic Research" returned a plethora of self-important seeming documents published by a bunch of academics patting each other on the back.
