Are they as prone to jumping the fence out of the yard as other breeds of dogs? (ie: Akita) Forgive me for being so vague.

I have 5 pit bulls. Yes, they jump. Pit bulls have been known to clear 5 foot fences like nothing. If you plan on getting a pit bull, it needs to be in a secure fenced area. Your backyard should at least have a 6 foot fence. You do not want your dog running loose on the streets. Too many pit bulls escape their yard and roam loose, and eventually end up in the hands of animal control.

If your asking can pits jump on someone, yes. It always comes down to training. If you train your dog to not to jump, over a fence, on somebody.. they won't. They are very intelligent dogs.

There are a lot of pits in flyball (enough that tornaments are not held where pits are outlawed) and that is a hurtle race and a fair smattering in agility which resembles a show jumping course

Any dog can jump. Big dogs jump higher than small ones. I have Chihuahuas that can climb a fence.
