is it possible to get gastric bypass/lap band surgery without insurance approving it (paying cash)?

I am asking because I'm not quite considered "Severly Obese" to fit the qualifications. I am however very close. I am willing to pay for the surgery but need to know a ball park figure of what to expect.

yes you can pay cash for the procedure. you need to consult the Dr or a few Dr. to get some prices. do you have any other medical problems ie: diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, acid reflux, shortness of breath when you exercise if you meet some medical qualifications you may be able to get the insurance to approve it consult a Dr.

u can have that procedure done in the u.s or outside the u.s as long as ur willing to pay. or your insurance will cover it as long as your physician says it is vital to your health. and it doesn't cost 20,000. like the knucklehead stated in her answer. there are accredited doctors in mexico who will perform the procedure. they move to mexico where the cost of living is lower and they can perform the procedure at a lower cost and still make a financial killing. just check around. some insurances will cover you if you like 100lbs overweight and it is vital to your health.
