My God! I've never been to the immigration section of "answers" before. I am ashamed to be an American right now. I have never seen such bigotry and hatred! Mexico is our neighbor and her great people should be treated with the utmost respect. I have a few Mexican friends and they are like bros and sisters to me. They are human beings. You are entitled to your own opinion about immigration, but the personal, bigoted attacks against Mexicans are really quite unnecessary.

To the aptly named SAVAGE: Are you that chickenhawk, that degenerate waste of subhuman fecal matter Michael Savage? Or just one of his conditioned, lever pressing rat, pigeon peckin' drones? Worry not "American" I easily grasp the idiocy of the "anti-illegals" in the group. If you really don't want illegal immigrants in this country, why don't you vent your spleen at the correct target: the American employers that hire them? But that wasn't the question, was it? You certainly didn't read it, nor did you answer it.
Here's a tip, pal. Next time, try reading the entire question and then address it. Enforcing the law doesn't make one racist, but engaging in personal attacks, racist remarks, and threats of violence against Mexicans does. That's what i've been seeing all over these boards. That is what I have a problem with. Big time.
As far as stupidity goes, your in a class by yourself SAVAGE. You're not fit to wipe my *** "American".

Melinda S: I have a problem with you blaming Mexicans for taking jobs. If you believe illegal immigration is wrong, shouldn't you be targeting American employers instead? If American employers didn't hire illegal immigrants, there wouldn't be any jobs, and it's doubtful if anyone would still come here if that was the case. Do you agree?
I've gotta tells ya, btw, I've had a hell of a lot more American white guys stare my girlfriends up and down than anybody else! If they get out of line, I clobber 'em. lol

Canvas: I agree, except the part about the military. The U.S. has by far the largest and most powerful military in the world. Most of our tax dollars are squandered on the military! In 2003 51.6% of our tax dollars were spent on the military. Compare that with 6.7% spent on education and you can see why there are so many idiots on yahoo answers that make bigoted remarks against Mexicans!

I totally agree with you SOME Americans talk about Mexicans like the Nazis did about the Jews and I completely agree with you I'm Mexican and we are great people we are very hard working and don't ever let any racist tell you otherwise or brainwash you into thinking we aren't I know there are some bad apples but don't ever think we are all like this because we are not oh and by the way a lot of the bad things that you hear about immigrants are lies like them not paying taxes my family has been here since I was 7 I'm 13 at the moment and every single one of those years my dad has paid his taxes on time and we aren't lazy or uneducated my dad leaves for work at around 7a.m. and he comes back at around 10p.m and like you said everybody is entitled to their own opinion on the subject of immigration but as for all the racism this issue has created I believe we should try to get rid off it or just ignore it since most people who say these things are ignorant.
THANK YOU FOR READING MY MESSAGE AND HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem with opening our border to another country is that the good, bad, and ugly from that country all come here at once. People just assume "oh they're ALL innocent and want to work in the fields, bless their little hearts!" Yeah, do you know how high of a crime rate Mexico has? And what about all the illegal drugs being smuggled into this country almost on a daily basis from Mexico. Also, it isn't very fair that americans work hard and pay taxes, while illegal aliens get paid under the table and avoid the IRS. Yeah, play the f***ing race card and call me a racist. Overlook the fact that I made valid points as to why illegal immigration is BAD and risky.

I agree with you that Mexican people are the same as any other type of person. I think the problem that many Americans have with Mexicans is the fact that they come to America illegally and then expect to reap the benefits of an American citizen. The Mexican people are a great people and they do deserve respect - but they should act respectfully and apply to come to America the legal way, like other immigrants do.
I'm not saying all Mexicans are illegal immigrants - but unfortunatley since there is such an influx of illegal immigrants coming from Mexico it has bred a stereo type. I know Mexicans that are here legally and they are citizens and I respect them the same way I respect everyone else.

You should be ashamed but not to be American! You could be ashamed because you obviously do not grasp the cause of anti illegals in this group, or you could be ashamed because you have proved yourself to be a bigot, racist or prejudice towards a large group in a public forum whatever the reason is, is your problem. get a clue, no I will give you one, here goes read closely. As many know here at answers my personal answers are radical and extreme this is due to a firm conviction that illegal is illegal and that these people drain resources that could be used to help my family or fellow citizens. Let me save you the trouble of commenting, if enforcing the law for all illegal aliens in this country no matter what their race, color or religion makes me prejudice, a bigot or a racist, then that's what I am. Sorry to disappoint you but my prejudice goes way beyond illegals it also includes stupid people!!!!!!

Yeah man, some people are ignorant and stupid and racist. It sucks. I am totally against illegal immigration. But a fact is that the majority of illegal immigrants in this country is made up of Mexicans. Maybe that is why they are racist towards Mexicans. I cannot justify that. I love all people, Mexicans included. Actually, I am in love with a Mexican girl at my work. But unfortunatly I can tell she has no interest in me. Sucks. But yeah, people need to stop being racist, and at the same time, people also need to stop calling people racist just because they are against amnesty for the illegals. That is also rampant on Yahoo Answers.

I support that. See, what we could do to solve this is, instead of giving money to countries that have no relation to us except as military allies, give it to Mexico to help their economy grow, and make it more desirable for the Mexicans to live there. I don't get the whole " Concrete Fence with Armed Guard Towers" thing. They're our NEIGHBORS, for crying out loud! Would you put an armed concrete fence on your property line next to your neighbors? Give it some thought America. Give it some thought. I don't mind the Mexicans who come here to work. I do mind those few Mexicans who smuggle drugs to this country. I think it's a stereotype that all Mexicans are drug- runnin' gangsters. That's not true. I actually know a Mexican family that works hard to live here, the Plata Family. Like I said before, give it some thought America. Give it some thought.

You need to open your eyes and you will see why people are so upset with all the illegal aliens in this country. They are taking jobs and I mean good jobs from people who pay taxes . In case you are not aware , taxes is where we get the money to pay for the protection services that we all use as in Police, Fire and ambulance. The tax money also pays for the roads you drive on and parks your children play in.The tax dollars are paid by tax paying citizens something illegal aliens do not pay yet when they need medical help they go get it with the tax payers paying the bill on their medical needs.I can only tell you that just because people are against illegal aliens does not make them bigots. As far as you being ashamed to be an American , I can tell you I am ashamed you are an American too,I am not ashamed of Americans who do a little research before they jump to conclusions and call people names when they have nothing to base it on other their own ignorance.

Sadly, some people only know how to react to their perceived problems by lashing out and belittling others. I have met people on all four sides of this issue.
____________________________________________
Four Basic Viewpoints on Illegal Immigrants:
1. They are cool, they fill the jobs nobody wants. Let them have jobs and nobody will be the wiser. Just don't give them citizenship.
2. They deserve these rights.... simply because of the U.S.'s arrogance, and these immigrants should receive citizenship.
3. They are God's creation too, but they don't belong where they have broken the law. Send them home and make them immigrate the proper way.
4. They are worthless and should be (fill in the blank).
______________________________________________
I tend to find myself in the 3rd camp of thought.
I am from South Texas. I live in a town where if you were bigoted against latinos, you would be in some serious trouble, not only from the latinos, but from the Caucasians who are their friends, family, and neighbors.
However, I still believe that immigration laws should be maintained. Some of the most honorable people I know are Mexicans who came here legally, and who take great pride in their efforts to come to Texas.
So please folks, lay off the idiotic racism as a reaction to this issue. Remember, the words of our Lord. "If anyone comes to you and is thirsty, give him something to drink". Also, "love your neighbor as yourself".
While the issue of illegal immigration is serious, and enforcement should be taken; reacting in anger and bias is not the answer.

to everyone do you know an immigrant who has come here legally? if you do you are very lucky, no wait they are very lucky. because let me tell you something, the majority of the people trying to come here 'legally' do not meet all the requirements, which by the way are outrageous for mexico not fro any other country. they ask that you have over 20,000.00 in the bank, property in mexico, a steady job there and here if that is why you are coming here, property here if you plan to be staying here. even if you want to visit you need most of the above requirements plus you cannot be coming to visit family but then they ask you why you are coming here if you do not know anyone. it is awful for them and I think you need to be more compassionate and research something before you open your fat motuh. sorry but bigheaded people like you who try to claim they believe in equality are full of crap. and they dont take our jobs they work in the job no one else wants so that you can work in a better job for better money, i thought the way all of you did until I actually listened to what was going on, as for the english thing the majority of the men speak english and their wives are at home with the kids and never get out and have a chande to learn. and if we really want to get technically part of the US used to be mexico so doesnt that make everyone and immigrant. i know you all seem to hate illegal immigration but maybe you should the ones marching like on may 1 so that immigration will understand that maybe their laws are to strict for mexicans and not for any other county.

Never be ashamed of being a American.
I believe the reason why the hatred towards Hispanics is on the rise, is because the illegal immigrants are bringing it on them selves.... I seen some of the pictures from the May protest, and it made me mad... very mad, makes me wonder what they were trying to do. They were appearing to antagonize Americans, and not attempting to ask for citizenship.
If they wanted us to feel for their cause, then why did they fly a American flag upside down, underneath a Mexican flag ?
What type of reaction do you think they want from doing things like that ?

Most Americans have nothing against Mexicans. It's illegal aliens that we are angry about. Every country in the world has immigration laws and so do we. The people coming in could be criminals such as child molesters, drug smugglers or even terrorists. We know nothing about them. Try crossing into Mexico without legal papers. You will rot in a stinking Mexican jail.
