Rolling a bowling ball down a lane in order to knock down pins is not a sin. Bowling is actually a fun and potentially satisfying hobby. If you bowl to be a good bowler, learn all the rules, practice all the courtesies associated with the sport, and treat all of your fellow bowlers with kindness and respect, it can be a great sport. But too many bowlers become overly competitive, or gamble when they bowl. Others seem to be unable to enjoy the sports unless they are drinking alcoholic beverages or smoking cigarettes, or betting on the outcome of their games.
I took up bowling as physical therapy for a crippling injury. I study the game. I study the rules of courtesy. Today, I carry an average anywhere from 197 to 219. I DO NOT participate in any highly competitive leagues, nor do I participate in tournaments (due to my own fear of becoming too competitive). And when I bowl with others, I try to help those, who ask for it, to be better bowlers.
And, of course, I do not bowl on religious holidays.
So if you can avoid the alcohol and the gambling, and you actually enjoy learning all the aspects of the sport, then no, it is not a sin to bowl.

Maybe she thinks you'll have too much fun bowling and that it might be an activity with both boys and girls interacting (like a dance, also frowned upon by pentecostals). She's trying to protect you. She may think you're spending more time bowling and less time praying. Whether you go bowling or not depends on how often you see your grandmother.

That is pretty funny. Bowling in itself is not a sin at all. It in no way is offensive to God, or others. If your life became centered around bowling and nothing else, that could be bad, but just as a past time with friends it is not a big deal.

The only thing that would make it a sin is that by bowling you are disobeying your grandma.

See ya,
Dan

bowling is not a sin, the enviornment of some bowling alleys is an appearance of evil and that according to Bible we are to abstain from. But when i used to go and my MOm had issues with it i figured i wasnt doing anything there to misrepresent Christ. And unusually enough i'd get to be the proverbial light in dark places. As long as your bowling and having a good time, no sin is being commited! * your not cursing people out, or getting riotously drunk are you? Cause those biblically speaking are sins.

Physical actions aren't sin, it's the reason behind them. Bowling as a fun pasttime isn't a sin, God never said we couldn't relax. If bowling becomes a addiction for you but you continue to indulge yourself, that would be a sin. If you use bowling as your escape from what you know you should be doing, that would be a sin.

Why would it be? Always make sure, if you're hoping to stay out of sin, that you take your advice from the Bible-then decide for yourself...rather than from someone else. Try to still show your grandmother the respect she deserves...though you may disagree.

Maybe it's the crowd you hang around when you go bowling that has your grandma worried.
