Yes, I've heard of a similar case when a man married a foreigner and even HE didn't know he was illegal until she tried to get her Green Card...He had a military job , paid taxes in US, but no US passport.
ANyway, his case was resolved quickly, as will your friend's-it's a just a matter of formality. Shouldn't take more a than a few months.

This land is the common heritage of all people. It is only in the last 300 years that America was only for Americans. for the 10,000 years before that, anyone could be here.

I think it really sucks that his parents put him in this situation. They should have thought about the consequences of their actions. Now their kid has to suffer. Shameful. So sorry. He needs to go through the process like everyone else that wants to become a citizen. He can blame his parents for this mess.

What do I think? I think it is sad that his parents did this to him. If he is deported, he will have no reason to blame Immigration officials, he should put the blame where it belongs - on his parents. They did him a huge injustice. Now, I think he needs to get with the program here and contact Immigration and see what he needs to do to become a legal citizen.

I think he should become legal then. if he is smart and speaks good english then he should have no problem. I'm not trying to mean. His parents choose to bring him here.......that sucks but, if he is going to 18 its now his choice on what he wants to do. It sucks to have to be put through this because of what your parents did or did not do.

He needs to do whatever the appropriate paperwork is to obtain his citizenship. He and his family both need to get their documentation in order and apply for citizenship. I am for anyone who wants to come to this country to have a better life, but I do believe, simply because of the threat of terrorism, we need to have better control on who enters the country.
