That all depends on what nationality you are. If your Italian....
Tomatoes. If your Asian.... Tomatoes. If your Mexican... Tomatoes. Though if your German.....more towards the potato vote. American's.............tough. It used to be way....more consumption of Potatoes. But since soooooooooo many people are watching their starch/carb. monitoring. Tomatoes products have rose to the occasion. So many fast food chains are now offering salads/with tomatoes. As a healthier option for people that care about living healthier. Potatoes have many pluses to their nutrients (baked moreso than others, though once you put the butter, sour cream blah blah blah on it....it's pretty pointless. Because you've just cross cancelled out the whole importance of it (which is mainly in the peel!) (your vitamins are now swimming in fats!)
Tomatoes on the other hand are so much more benificial for your body..so much that a Dr. by the name of Graham A Colditz and his associates at Harvard Medical School interviewed more than a thousand people about their diets, then tracked their health for five years. They found that the chances of dying of cancer was lowest amoung those who at tomatoes or strawberries every week. Tomatoes are rich in vitamins A and C , Iron (though cooking them in an iron pot will add about 5 more mg. to the already .7 grams it contains. Plus it contain some fiber as well, which fits right in with the cancer-prevention recommendations that the National Cancer Institute and other groups have issues bases on our currect knowlege of how diet affects the diesease. The fruit (yes, fruit) some think they are a vegetable and their not; are low in fat and soduim and very rich in potassium. Tomatoes are also very benifical for Prostate sufferers because they are very high in Lycopene. (a pigment that found in such foods as tomies, red grapefruits, watermelons and berries.)
So some people might THINK that potatoes are eatten more....but tomatoes are more widely used now.
And Yeahdude13, I know you said that the questions NOT important, but it really is important. And hey......good question by the way. There's too many stupid/pointless/ I'm so bored, I can think of nothing else better to ask.........questions out there.
Thanks
Take Care
(and eat yer tomatoes kiddo!) hee-hee!
