Just to be at peace with everyone and everything INCLUDING YOURSELF! (something no-one ever has peace with), because of the Lord is indescribable. You eliminate jealousy (yours and others for you), hatred (yours and others for you), selfishness, greed etc. You are so literally set FREE from all bondage! Many times, before you get to know the Lord you don't even realize you have a need to be set free until the Lord's holy spirit just does it for you. Then you see the world in a different light, like someone just cleared away all of the junk from the original path you were taking, and you start to enjoy your journey through life.

It's an extremely peaceful, relaxed, and content feeling. You're virtually immune to being angry or being concerned with how you look to other people. You're attitude towards people is that of understanding, patience, kindness, love and good humor.
To experience that joy is kind of a catch 22. If your sole aim is to experience the joy of the Lord, I dont think you'll fully experience it.
To experience it fully takes spritual maturity. It starts with surrendering (or giving up) your concerns about yourself to God. This doesnt mean you stop doing the best you can in your life, it just means that whatever happens, you accept it with a thankful heart, as part of God's ultimate purpose for you.
Another big part of it is humility. Being humble basically means not worrying about your image, but only about doing what's right and treating others with respect.
If you want to learn more I suggest reading Paul's letters. If you dont already know, they are in the new testament of the Bible (Romans, Corinthians, etc.). Read a modern day version so it's easier to read and understand.
Another book I highly recommend is CS Lewis' "Mere Christianity"...especially the chapter called "The Great Sin". You wont regret reading that.

Joy {in the Lord} can be found even in the midst of pain and sorrow. Joy shouldn't be confused with happyness or exhilaration though! Joy in the Lord can be found through a relationship with Him. It's one of the fruits of the Spirit which is placed into believers lives at their new birth.

This joy removes you from your emotional state that has engulfed you. You feel as if you have left that state and these things that engulfed you just seem like something from the past.

My easiest example: I had been in this state many years' ago when my husband asked for a divorce. It just didn't bother me. I didn't 'fall apart'. God knew I needed His help. That day is not a tragety to me, but to most it would have.

Being happy with what you have. They say if you want to be rich you need to make more money or be happy with what ya got. Helping others is one of the best feelings in the world. Just getting out of self for a while.

Peace will wash over you and this world will not matter....you will see and understand HIS kingdom. You will walk through this world...but it will not consume you.
