I read alot of posts where people claim it is not a racial issue, they say that if you come here as a undocument workers, then you are a theif and a liar. It just seems odd, that they seem to be more concerned about the hispanics .

How is it odd? First of all, the recent push is to get rid of *all* illegals which do include other illegals like some Chinese migrants as well (just they are a much smaller number thus not covered in the news). There are many other groups that are part of the problem but regardless Americans have a right to expect all migration be legal because it is what the vast majority of civilized countries can expect. For example, Canada expects all migrants to be legal (and the vast majority of them are) and there's nothing wrong with that. I think Americans are entitled to the same security for their immigration policy as the rest of the world does (especially since Mexico's own immigration is so lax that those who would do the USA harm can easily get in and then across the obviously porous border to do ill).

We insist that people come into the country legally because it is the law. If everybody was allowed to break any law that they deemed unnecessary we would not have a country to live in. The reason that people have focused on the Mexican border is not because it is a racial issue, but because it is the most crossed border in the country where illegals are concerned. This is not to say that all who cross the US/Mexico border are even Hispanic. In the research I have done I have found that often times there are also middle easterners who are crossing the border illegally. The second reason that the Americans have focused heavily on the Mexican border is because it has become a major source for drug trafficking into the United States. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and as so it goes with the borders, the most illegally crossed border will get the most attention.

Hey Chupa,
Here's the deal....I pay taxes because of laws that I have to abide by because I am a citizen of the United States and pay into the economy here. Why is it okay for people to come here illegally?I don't understand this debate because both of my grandparents were from China during the Communist reign and came here legally and worked soo hard till the day they died. And as a family we sponsored so many Chinese so they could gain citizenship legally. Legality is not something that we choose to follow it's a preset standard of our nation. Why should I agree to have state and national monies pay for groups of peoples to have children, educate, and feed others that are here illegally from other countries when we could use that aid for our own legal citizens? Illegals have a reason to be here to take the jobs that our Welfare US nation won't lower their pride to take which to me, is a paradox, because we gain money because of their service but this is the evidence of a messed up system but I guess we need someone to shake that system up too! I cannot say that I think that anyone is a liar or a cheat but I would hope that if someone is going to come to the good ole' US of A that they would do it the right way to understand that being here is not a right it is a priviledge and people have died to protect our liberties that we have taken for granted for so long. This answer is from a young person with a heart for the true meaning of being a US citizen.

Don't worry about it all. It's just another "hot button" issue that the politicians are stirring up out of nothing to get the public to vote either way on. Of course right and left wingers have to weigh in on the issue and then the popular media blows it up some more. But the fact remains that legal or not, emigrant workers have been an intergral part of the american economy since telefunkin' 1492 and will most likley always be. JUST IGNORE THE HYPE

It's not so much that it's a racist thing but it does just so happen to be that more hispanics (Mexican, Central American, etc.) seem to come here illegally than any other group. The problem is not only do they come here illegally, work without paying taxes or social security or medicaid, etc. But they use everything we have available to LEGAL citizens which puts a strain on our resources. PLUS, look in the jails across the country. Do you know how many illegal immigrants there are in our jails today? Do you know how much money it costs to house an illegal immigrant in one of our jails that OUR tax money pays for? We can't afford go health care for our Veterans who fought for our country but yet we pay for 3 square meals a day for these repeat offenders to be in our jails! How crazy is that?
The real problem is as Americans, we have become such a lazy society. When I was a kid, I remember all of my friends had jobs as teenagers. We mowed the neighbors lawns, cleaned houses, shoveled snow, babysat, etc. No one we knew had nannys, landscapers, cleaning ladies. Who are the majority of all of these workers? Illegal immigrants that we pay off the books. We are to blame for this! If there wasn't such an easy way for them to make undocumented money, maybe they wouldn't want to come here in droves. We need to teach our children to do these jobs and take responsibility. All of our teenagers these days come out of high school or college thinking they should be making $50K a year or it's just "beneath them". So, while I am totally against illegal immigrants of any nationality coming here and taking advantage of our country, I think we need to take responsibility for ourselves and not allow this to happen anymore.

Because they are the majority of the illegals who come to this country. They cost American taxpayers millions of dollars a year by stealing social security numbers and working "under the table" so they don't have to pay taxes. However, they don't pay into the system, but take from it. As soon as you enter this country without proper documentation, that is a felony. You are already considered a criminal. It doesn't matter if you are Mexican, Chinese or whatever. They come across the borders of Arizona and Texas and kill farm animals to eat and ransack homes so they can sleep. They cost the taxpayers of Arizona an average of 800 dollars a year extra to keep up with damage done to property and whatnot. Not to mention what it cost us in unpaid taxes, extra border security and what they get out of the system. We are paying for thier healthcare, thier kids education and they are paying in NOTHING. I have nothing against people who come here legally, in fact, I welcome them. I think you need to read up on border control and drug smuggling and maybe that will answer your question.

Maybe because I don't see any Vikings crossing the Mexican border. Who the hell are you kidding? Let's face the fact, ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL no matter how you try to spin it. Come here legally and you are my brother. Cross the border in the night and you should be shot.

None of the so called "guest workers" pay any taxes, but they get the benefit of free hospitals, free social programs and free education. Americans have to foot the bill while trying to put their own kids through college and trying to save for retirement.

That's why! Go back to Mexico and come here legally you stupid douchebag.

It's not a race issue. Most people do not have a problem with anyone who comes to America legally. The people who break in to this country illegally make it 1098243520938423904 times more difficult for people who want to become LEGAL US citizens. I don't like illegal immigrants. I don't like how they expect this country to change because they've had it so hard. Boo-hoo. I don't feel sorry for you.

Amen. at the same time, those who come the following illegally do not ignore that they are many times deported, that's a probability they choose to take. that is now complicated, and that i respect a human being which will do something they could to help their relations, so even as I do sense sympathy if you're suffering, i visit't sense poor even as they're deported. As somebody else stated, they did wreck the regulation.
