THE BEST WAY is pen pals. I learned French like this. Start by going to French chatrooms, penpals, ect. You can go to ICQ or any pen pal or language website. Try to get as many pen pals as possible. If your having a hard time understanding what their saying, use an online translator, (google, language tools). Although most usually speak English also.There are some pen pal websites, most of them, that have a language exchange program, which is, if somebody wants to learn English, and you want to learn French, you pair up and exchange languages. Also I heard Rosetta Stone is good. The program is worth it, my sister has it and she's learning Chinese. I think it's a bit pricey though, I'm not sure. It will take time though, so you must be patient. Just think French everyday when you wake up and go to sleep and start getting used to the language. Then there is always going to France, which is amazing, I went there and I want to move there so bad, or student exchange, if your a student. Hope this helped :)

I think the fastest way is to read through the book entitled "Easy French Reader"; it is a must have for English speaking beginners learning French. Then also get a French native tutor.

Wow....you and I might be related. Thats what I'm trying to do right now in the Western USA. Why? I don't know, just a thing I can do. I like French Films. There is always community college. That will get you going. Also what I do is listen to French Radio Stations on the internet alot...www.europe1.fr is a news station in Paris. Also don't live in an English speaking country.....travel whenever you can. Besides France, theres Quebec in Canada, some Islands in the carribean like Martinique and Guadeloupe. Tahiti, Some countries in Africa......etc...etc...Lastly what helps me is CD's...get either Rosetta Stone or Pimsuler....you listen and repeat, listen and repeat....very cool.

Why don't you go to a book store and pick up a dictionary that is French and English. It's inexpensive and will give you some help. Otherwise, a more costly approach would be to buy some CD's that can teach you. There is a famous collection that provides quick techniques. See link:

It is easy:

Tu dois écouter la radio, le journal en vidéo sur tf1.fr ou france2.fr, lire beaucoup, tous les jours pendant plusieurs heures, mais surtout écouter le Français par tous les moyens possibles!! le parler avec des amis, essaye aussi de penser en français dans ta tête pour pratiquer.
