Like dtstuff9 said, all it will do is add protection. In my opinion, it really couldn't hurt, especially if there "accidentally" isn't a condom available or something happens to one. If you want as close to a 100% chance that you will not get pregnant as you can get, then condom + birth control should give you that. Not as much as no sex, but that's a different question.

Yes, birth control is a good idea, but only if you plan to continue to use the condoms. Condoms are the ONLY form of birth contol that protects against STDs. Not saying that you or your boyfriend are sleeping around, it's just a good habit to have.

I always say better safe than sorry. Condoms are not 100% and neither is birth control, but combined... the chances of getting pregnant is rare. I have been sexually active for sometime now and I have no kids thanks to both... STD free too! One of the biggest bonuses to being on birth control though is how regulated my period is. I know the day I will begin... its great for picking out outfits and planning trips or doctor appointments.

Congratulations on having sex with your boyfriend. I hope that you build intimacy and grow closer in your relationship.

What's wrong with condoms? Even if you get on birth control I'd recommend you still use condoms. Please remember that you're protecting yourself from two things -- an unwanted (at this time, perhaps) pregnancy and STDs. I'm not making any accusations or judgements, just stating straightforward facts.

Now, if you prefer to feel him orgasm inside you, that's another story. However, I'd still encourage to use the condoms.

Condoms are a form of birth control.

Yeah, use both, but there is still a higher chance of getting pregnant when using both condoms and birth control than you think.
My grandma works in child birth at the hospital and tells me numerous stories of women (mostly teens) who get pregnant while using both.
So don't rely on it.
If you're so worried about it, then just wait until you're married and are sure that you want kids!
Have a nice day! :)

You should use both, especially if you don't want to get pregnant. We were blessed with 2 of our kids because the condom broke and I wasn't on birth control. But birth control can do some weird things to you (mood wise and weight wise).

No not if you want to get pregnant! dah! You should not get on one kind you should get on two. Condoms fail more then they work. How old are you that the are having sex but don't know the answer to this question?
