Dear readers:
I was having an argument with a Christian friend a few days ago. It is a bit lengthy but I hope you will find this interesting.
Here was how our argument went about:
( For convenience sake, I will abbreviate my name as AR & my Christian friend's name as CF )
AR : What if someone were to come up to you & introduce a religion whereby God manifests himself in multiple forms ie. a tree, a cloud, a human being, a dog & a cockroach at the same time. & in addition, this God has an uncle, an aunt and a nephew.
CF : I will tell him that his religion is totally absurd & is an innovation of the devil. I will tell him not to believe in this idiotic religion and wake up to his senses.
AR : So how can you believe in your idiotic & absurd Christianity then??!!
CF : .... I don't understand what you're trying to say.
AR : In Christianity, do you believe that God is one or God is 3?
CF : God is 1 in 3!
AR : So essentially, you are saying that God is 3!
CF : ......
AR : Does God have a father?
CF : No.
AR : Does Jesus have a father?
CF : Yes.

AR : Therefore, God has a father!

CF : .....

AR : Does God have a mother?

CF : No.

AR : Does Jesus have a mother?

CF : Yes, but it is the human Jesus.

AR : Do you regard the 'human Jesus' as God?

CF : Yes.

AR : Therefore, God has a mother! Unless you want to admit that the 'human Jesus' is NOT God!
CF : .....

AR : Does God have a son?

CF : Yes.

AR : There you have it ! The truth of Pagan Christianity! God is 3 & God has a father, a mother & son!
CF : Er..., excuse me, I got to go now. (Hung up)
I really don't understand these Christians. Why are they so unwilling to admit that their religion is a pagan religion?!
Their logic is:
God is 3.
God is a human being.
God has a father, a mother and a son.

What difference is there between Christianity and Hinduism then?!
It is interesting to note that Hindus also believe in Trinity & like Christianity, their God has children & relatives.
Just read up on Hinduism & you will realize that the doctrines of Hinduism & Christianity are very similar to each other.
Pay attention Hindues: You dont need to convert into christans you are already Hindu christans!

LOL.

Its a good one.

I agree but only partially with gabriel_zachary. The trinity in Himnduism has Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh ie creator, administrator destroyer . But,off course it is again ultimately one as these are just different aspects of same supreme and Hinduism believes it as such. Rest of it are just different explanations of Trinity by different people.

I never heard name of wives of these deities as part of trinity ever before. More likely that it is own explanation of some other Philosopher , which gabriel_zachary read.

So really it is also 3 in one god in Hinduism too.

Let me give you some more food for thought:

Jesus came on earth , as son of God. He is God. He is also a Human.

Krishna came on earth. He is Human. He is God. He is an Avatar of God on earth.

I think it will be fair to say the descent of Jesus is similar to concept of Avatar. Have fun.

Actually the Christian Trinity and the Hindu Trinity are very different things. I should know, I'm a former Christian missionary that is now a Hindu.

Christian Trinity:
Father, Son, Holy Spirit
They are described as being One God in Three distinct persons. The example that I often gave to explain it (very far back in the day) was to use the example of Dihydrogen Monoxide (H20). It exists in three states: Gas, Liquid, and Solid and yet each is still exactly the same chemical compound. In each form it has a different name: Gas it is called Vapor, Liquid it is called Water, and Solid it is called Ice. This is how Christians think of God. Father is Vapor, Son is Ice, and the Holy Spirit is Water. (to go from Vapor to Ice the element must go through a water phase and to go from Ice to Vapor it must first change form to Water..so water is the intermediary form...and the Holy Spirit is the intermediary in the Christian Trinity). So that is the Christian Trinity in a very simplified explanation.

Hindu Trinity
The Hindu Trinity is defined as Brahma & Sarasvati, Vishnu & Lakshmi, and Shiva & Parvati. Both the masculine and feminine are represented. Masculine represents purusha (spirit, energy, unmanifested form) and feminine represents prakriti (matter, manifested form). To shorten this understanding the way Hindus view it, it is thus describing the natural process of Creation, Preservation, and Dissolution (respectively). The Trinity isn't actually three distinct beings. They are symbols for processes that occur naturally in the universe. Everything is Created, Everything is Preserved (maintained), and everything Dissolves away. It is constantly happening all around us and it is a cycle. This is what the trinity represents. Yet Hindus believe that ultimately there is only One God. Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesh, Lakshmi, Rama, Krishna, Sarasvati, Durga, Kali, Buddha, Parvati, Uma, Gauri, Ayyappan, Murugan, Hanuman, Sita, Gayatri, Surya, Chandra, Agni, Indra, etc, etc, etc these are all just symbols of that one God. God is beyond all names and forms and yet is also all names and forms. God manifested everything from Itself and yet remains beyond the manifested as well unmanifested. The divine spark dwells in all things: mountains, trees, you, me, the sun, the moon, the stars, etc. Yet God is also beyond all of those things. We are not seperated from God because everything emerged from God itself. So truly Hinduism technically doesn't have a Trinity. It is just another symbol in a host of other symbols that people outside of Hinduism often confuse as being "real". The only thing that is "real" is God (Brahman, Bhagavan, Ishvara are just some of the words that are often used to describe the one God, but truly even these are names and symbols, too). Brahman is the most common. It comes from the word Brah and Manah which when combined together usually are translated into English as "Expanding Consciousness" or "Cosmic Consciousness" or "Supreme Soul" or "Ultimate Reality" or "Universal Truth" depending on the person doing the translating.

Essentially they are not the same. The Christian Trinity is refering to a seperate being that just happens to have three forms of existence (another way of thinking of it is that your body is composed of blood, air, and flesh, each are different but ultimately they form your body). The Hindu Trinity is just a symbol. The trinity isn't God anymore than any of the other symbols. Only God is God, people just call upon God by many different names. Ultimately you and I and the entire universe are, underneath all the physical stuff, are no different from God. That is why Hindus strive to see God in all and to treat everyone and everything the same way they treat God.
"There is one God, though humanity calls It by many names." Rig Veda 1:164.46

Peace be with you.

It actual is going back to an Egyptian trinity- Ra, Osiris and Nu. yet who's counting? there are an excellent style of parallels, so that is extra acceptable to seem at it generically. that's a very best author, a actual manifestation (called an avatar) and a spirit to ennoble and communicate with the trustworthy. fantastically a lot an same as Al, Mo and Gabby- yet another locally favourite trio. Or Kukla, Fran and Ollie. Manny, Moe and Jack. Larry, Moe and Curly. Myths is myths. God is God. people is people. Spirit is spirit. all of us can get drained after a lengthy day of questions.

There is one God who has revealed Himself to mankind in three "persons" for lack of a better word. If that doesn't make sense, then so be it. How can a finite human being totally understand an infinite God? He wouldn't be God then, now would He?

Luke 3:21 Now it came to pass that when all the people were baptized, that Jesus also was baptized, and was praying, that the heaven was opened; 22 and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came out of heaven, saying, "You are My beloved Son; in You I have found delight."

John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God...And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

John 14:8 Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." 9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He that has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

Acts 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and for you to keep back for yourself from the price of the land? 4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And after it was sold, was it not in your control? Why have you purposed this thing in your heart? You did not lie to men but to God."

Very good! Yes, The Christians borrowed a lot Pagan beliefs like the Trinity. Today, the Pagan Trinity (known as the Triquetra) stands for Maiden, Mother, and Crone - the three stages of a woman's life.

My answer to your question is NO. The holy trinity of christianity and the trinity of hinduism is not the same. A totally different working.

So one should not even compare and say there are similarities.

is not the same, otherwise they will be called as the same religion.

by the way good move on confusing your friend.

on christian side.
you see this is just like split personality. 1 human but have 2 personality.

god only 1 personality but on 3 form. which is father, son and holy sprite.
all of them we call god. but they have their own form and these form have their own purpose.

and because god is such a mystery that our human brain can't think about it.
