Dobermans are wonderful dogs, I used to own one and she was a gem. Now I own 2 Japanese Akitas and now as far as I'm concerned there isn't any other dogs. For being right at a 100lbs each, they are the most gentle, loyal, quiet and obedient dogs I have ever seen. I will never own another breed of dog. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Dobbie, being an ex-dobbie owner myself, but as far as I'm concerned the Akita is the way to go. I'm expecting my first litter in about 2 months, I'm so excited!!!!!Good luck with your Doberman.

They are cool when they are puppies, but these dogs have a genetic flaw. There skulls harden before there brain is fully grown, which tends to cause madness in some of them at an older age. This is why so many of them turn on there owners. Also, they are bread to be agressive. And if there are more then one, they form a pack. No matter how big you are, they believe they are the domonant one. This means, it isn't your house, it's theres. If you do something they don't like in there house, they will let you know. They make awsome outside gaurd dogs though.

Sorry, but Dobermans are only in my top 5 dog breeds. I love German Shepherds! They're #1 for me!

No, sorry. My personal favorite breeded dog is the border collie, chow chow, and bouvier bernois, but mixed breeds, mutts, and mongrels will always be my number one! anyway, almost all dog owners think their dog is the best, just like I am with my cute mixed breed dog, Puggey!

I was just discussing that very thing with my husband the last night. I said, whenever I meet somebody else's dogs I think of them as just dogs. I can't bond with them as I have with our poodle mix Snowball. Snowball comes to us when we call him, and when we say "Cama" (bed in spanish) he jumps on the bed, and when we say "Up" he climbs on wherever we are pointing to. He loves for us to rub his belly. I don't see him as a dog, I see him as our son really. A furry son, ;-)
