Anorexia is self-induced starvation, most often found in young girls with very low self-esteem and an obsession with losing weight and looking thin. This is an eating disorder and has been appearing with increasing frequency in today's society, thanks to the advertisements of fashion magazines in which emaciated teens are glorified as "beautiful."
Because anorexia is mental, it can't kill you per se, but there are girls who have starved themselves to death. Usually, the severe lack of food will lead to reduction in the muscle tissue of both the brain and heart, which can cause heart attacks.
You shouldn't be depressed. Your weight is a bit high, but you should just get on a healthy exercise program and change your diet to include more vegetables and less fat. I have a friend who also used to be 180, but he biked a lot and now weighs about 130, which is pretty trim for a guy.
As long as you are healthy, it doesn't really matter what your weight is. Some people naturally have denser bones or more muscle mass, so they weigh more. But they might be much healthier than the 90 pound sack of bones or the 115 girl who eats pizza all day. It's all a matter of perspective.

You're probably not looking for don't-do-it answers, but I have to tell you from experience that having an eating disorder makes for a sad and miserable existance. What's worse, after all that misery I put myself through, I gained the weight right back after I got treatment. This happens to everyone with an eating disorder. The human body is not meant to be that thin; it's meant to be thicker and robust. That road you or anybody else is looking towards is a dangerous, unsatisfying, miserable, frustrating, painful path, a disease that maims and eventually kills. It's not a fun road, and once you've started it, it doesn't go away. Ever.
Please, PLEASE, do not starve yourself. Anorexia is an illness; it kills. Normal bodily functions that you take for granted shut down, one by one. Your metabolism turns to dust. You can't go to the bathroom. Fine, yellow hair grows everywhere, even on your face. You become so weak that all you want to do is sleep; you lose muscle mass. At your worst, you'll barely be able to lift a novel. The depression becomes worse. Your life revolves around food and how you can avoid eating it. You're always hungry. You always think you're fat. Your family and friends become frustrated; they see that you're sick and nothing they say or do can help you. You know your clothes are too big on you, and you can't stop. It's a vicious cycle.
If you want to lose weight, do your body a favor and consult a doctor about a diet plan. Lose the weight in a healthy way.

First of all you don't have anorexia if you overweight.
Anorexia is an eating disorder where people starve themselves. Anorexia usually begins in young people around the onset of puberty. Individuals suffering from anorexia have extreme weight loss. Weight loss is usually 15% below the person's normal body weight. People suffering from anorexia are very skinny but are convinced that they are overweight. Weight loss is obtained by many ways. Some of the common techniques used are excessive exercise, intake of laxatives and not eating.
If you want to lose wight just eat Healthy diet lay off sodas and do cardio 4 times a week and in between some sort of muscle building routines, (weights, pilates, yoga etc) once you get to a weight your happy with stick to working out at least 4 times a week make sure you give your body time to rest too. work upper body one day lower the next. on days you don't do cardio make sure you still warm up with at least 5 Min's of cardio then stretch. and finish workouts with good relaxing stretch too.
Workout with friends and family when u can to make it more fun. Also keep a journal and dont weigh yourself everyday. weigh like once a week at a chosen time in the morning.

Anorexia nervosa is a rather hideous disease. What happens is that people do not eat, or eat way too little to nourish themselves, and so eventually, after they have lost all of their body fat, their stomach begins to digest their muscles. Because they have no body fat, they grow fine hair all over--it is the body's effort to keep warm. People can and do die from anorexia. Moreover, it is a hard thing to cure. One common problem is that no matter how much weight a person who has anorexia loses, they always think they look overweight, fat, and ugly.
I don't suggest anorexia at all.
If diets aren't working for you, do exercise. Take an hour-long walk each day, and as you gain strength, increase your speed over time. This will help you shed the pounds, and it is healthy.

Yes, anorexia can kill you.
It is typically defined as an obsession over the intake of food, and can be categorized by cutting out food completely, or obsessively counting and limiting calories. It is also often accompanied by overexercise.
Text-book anorexia is more a mental disorder, as it revolves around control and obsession, although discomfort with your body is a frequent trigger for these behaviors.
You should check with your doctor to make sure you don't have any underlying causes for being overweight, like thyroid problems, pituitary problems (this is a big one..many doctors overlook this), or any ovarian disorders.
If s/he finds nothing, then diet and exercise is the way to go -- but remember that it takes time and tons of effort!
If you go about losing weight in an unhealthy way, you're significantly more likely to gain the weight back -- they key is to develop healthy habits that will help you keep your weight under control for life.
Also, keep in mind that at your age it is typical for girls especially to gain some weight -- your hormones are going berserk, and your body is probably having some trouble keeping itself in equilibrium. During this time remember that you may have extra trouble losing weight, but once puberty is over it will shed more easily and readily.

Anorexia is not eating anything...period, and yes, it can kill you. Don't do it. Better to eat healthy and exercise and stop worrying so much about how you look because you're only 13! You say that you weigh 130-140 and you think that's a bad thing...but it might be appropriate for your height. Enjoy being a teenager before you grow up too fast!

Anorexia is a potentially deadly psychological disorder. Anorexics literally starve themsevles to death. Those who survive the disease suffer long lasting physical and mental problems. Some anorexics eventually lose the ablitity to ever have children because of the damage they have done to their bodies.
Anorexia is a dark, dark path that you dont want to walk down. Trust me, Ive seen it and it is not pretty. Ask your doctor about developing a healthy plan for you to lose the weight and psychological consuleing to deal with your depression.

It ok we are here to do what we can to help you, we love you and God loves you. You were the one who made you and shape you in your mother’s womb even before you were born. So keep in mind that your not a mistake and but someone special. What happens is that Satan continues to interfere with God creation, he is a thief and liar… so don’t you give in to negative thoughts or bad feelings. If your parents have not yet taken you to a doctor, please them to do it or call some local health services for assistance.
I will continue to pray for you. A woman in the Bible Hannah tried to over come her hurt by no eating but she found out that it did not help but only made it worse. Finally she decided to pray and call on God for help and that was what gave her a new life. I believe the same for you.
Anorexia is a serious eating disorder primarily of young women in their teens and early twenties that is characterized especially by a pathological fear of weight gain leading to faulty eating patterns, malnutrition, and usually excessive weight loss. So do ask for medical examination and support.
