There is a behavior is called "chittering." Not all dogs do it, but one of my Greyhounds has always done it. For my grey, it is a sign of excitement. He chitters whenever I grab the leash to take him for a walk, or when one of us comes home after both of us have been at work.
Keep an eye on your spitz. If this is chittering, she may do when excited, like at feeding time, or before walks, and the like.

It is because she is old. I forgot exactly what illness it is, but the vet could tell you. It is a sign that something is wrong. Call the vet and tell them the animal needs to be seen ASAP. Just tel them what the symptoms are and they will instruct you. Do this is the morning ASAP.

she could be cold or possibly have dog Parkinson's disease. Animals can get alot of diseases that humans get. maybe talk to a veterinarian to be sure. or try taking her into a large chain pet store shopping and ask someone who is knowledgeable there.good luck, it is most likely due to being old.

I have an old dog...Do you mean when she tries to close her mouth it looks like she's shivering? older dogs teeth sometimes move out of place, so she might be trying to realign her mouth.
