Without us being able to see your eye (and the fact that most have no training) makes it impossible to make a diagnosis. Your symptoms are very broad and there are countless possibilities. Anytime you have an eye that is painful you should call your optometrist immediately. They can decide if you need to come right into the office or just make an appointment to be seen in a few days.
Without pus it makes it sound like it is not pink eye.
I would not try to self-medicate without first discussing any drops with your doctor.

sounds like it is pinkeye ... does it feel "sticky" when you blink? like having peanut butter on your eyelid ... if it is pinkeye, don't touch ANYONE ... it is very very contagious. It could also just be allergies. I get the same thing lately where my eye just feels itchy and its a lil watery ... whatever it is ... I find if you put a cool damp facecloth on your eye and just let it sit there it will relieve some of the discomfort. If its still buggin ya tomorrow I'd get it checked out. (try taken an allergy pill ie: Reactin - that might help)

There is a possibility that this may be pinkeye or some other infection. Rinse your eye out thoroughly with water using an eye cup and then use eyedrops to prevent further swelling.

Sounds like pink eye to me! There is an over the counter medicine you can get. I think it is called Similasan pink eye relief. The spelling may be wrong but that is the way it sounds!!
