Nice try Yankee but you and your baby will have to go back to your side of the river
Canada is not as backward as the US and just being born here is not enough
Two American parents make a US baby
and so forth with all visitors
If it wants to be a Canadian later, then it has to apply and immigrate legally

Whether a child born in a certain country automatically acquires that country's citizenship depends on their laws. Since 1977, Canada, like the US and very few other countries, accords Canadian citizenship by right of birth in Canada under most circumstances:
http://www.multiplecitizenship.com/wscl/ws_CANADA.html
In addition, if the child has one American parent, the child is probably also entitled to US citizenship, if the parent lived in the US long enough to be allowed to transmit. IF the child has two American parents, citizenship is 'automatic.'
http://www.multiplecitizenship.com/wscl/ws_USA.html
An application must be made to the nearest US embassy or consulate for an FS240, Consular Report of Birth Abroad of an American Citizen, and a US passport. The FS-240 is the child's US birth certificate, certifying that he or she acquired US citizenship at birth. Once the child has a US passport, he/she can go to the US and live there.
Every US citizen is required by law to use a US passport to enter and leave the US
PS - contrary to rumor, a US military base or Embassy is NOT US soil for citizenship purposes. Being born on a US base does not accord citizenship. Only transmission from a parent can do that.

A person born in Canada, to a Canadian citizen and an American citizen would have Canadian citizenship by birth, and may also have US citizenship, depending on certain circumstances (the parents' marital status, date of the child's birth, and whether the US citizen parent has met certain physical presence requirements). If the requirements have been met, then the child would also be a US citizen, and therefore would have dual citizenship.

The baby can have dual citizenship. The mother must have lived in the US for a certain # of years (16, I think), so the child can have it. If both parents are US citizens, no problem. If the father is another nationality, then the age of the mother comes into play.

My teachers sister had a baby a week early and they were still in Usa when it was born (they were staying with relatives in Canada), so they HAD TO let them register him as US citizen, they didn't really want to but the hospital security explained they would be immediately deported and stuff, so the kid had dual citizenship for 3 days...

Citizenship automatically passes from mother to child, so the baby would be a US citizen, allowing the infant and mother to return to the US. Logic would follow that the baby would also be a Canadian citizen because it was born on Canadian soil.

Yes, but you will make things far easier if you register the baby's birth with the US as soon as possible and apply for the baby's US passport because that is what will be the child's proof of US citizenship.

YES and YES. US law allows for double citizenship if the baby is born overseas. I was born in Canada even though both my parents are American. Thus, I have dual citizenship. Canadian and American.

because you're married, that's going to be that you're probably a US citizen now. in case you provide start there, the toddler would qualify for a twin citizenship, because of your husband. you could might want to bypass to the yankee embassy to get workplace artwork for the toddler to go back, and probably innoculations (verify in case you could get carry of them even as pregnant, so as that way the toddler doesn't might want to bypass by skill of them). also, verify with immigration because there's a probability that in case you bypass back to Germany earlier a particular time is up, (i'm not positive of the dimensions), then it can make your citizenship void. Congratulations on having a toddler. also, be prepared to not be allowed on a airplane after a particular era of time in being pregnant. good success.
