When I'm starting to fall asleep, it feels as though my eyes are straining really hard to one side. When I open my eyes, it takes awhile for me to be able to focus. Everything looks fuzzy and out of focus. But focusing my eyes on something is the only way to make them feel normal. I usually go through this process two or three times until I can finally be comfortable.

I have had this sensation too. It usually means your eyes have been too strained during the day. If you work on a computer make sure to get up and focus on a far away object every hour.

Get to an eye doctor and get that checked out. It could be the beginning of something serious and you don't want to lose your eyesight.
