Tell her you like her when you know she's not focused on something else. Go to a place that the two of you normally go to as friends, as long as it's not distracting, and tell her that you developed feelings for her, you've been scared to tell her because it might ruin the relationship. Then ask her how she feels about you (really important).
Four outcomes:
1) She likes you and tells you what you want to hear. The two of you become closer than friends
2) She likes you but your friendship is too important to take a chance - she's not ready
3) She doesn't like you in that way but she still likes you as a friend. In that case, tell her that you hope she doesn't see you any differently and back off for a little while. Tell her you're mature enough to respect her boundaries
4) She doesn't like you and she doesn't want to be your friend anymore.
**any of these outcomes is good for you. If she is anything of a real friend, she'd understand you more than you know. If she wants to leave, you have one less person to worry about judging you.
**If you're gay, make sure you clearly understand their sexual preference. There's no need to make them feel more uncomfortable than they'd already might be.
If you're interested in a more in depth "Strategy" please contact me. My friends swear by it and I love sharing it.

Be suttle and give small hints at your feelings. Then ask them hypothetically what would happen if you told them that you were in love with them and see what their reaction is. If it is positive them go for it. If it isn't then I would try and settle for just being friends. The worst thing in the world is when you love someone and you tell them how you feel and they end up never speaking to you again. I would rather have someone as a friend than not have them at all.

2 years?! TEll him girl!!! you dont want to risk losing him now do u.. well for me, its better to have told him and let him figure out if he loves you too...its way ahead of not telling him, letting him get together with someone else and in the end finding out that he loved u too but didnt tell u because he didnt know how u would take it!

and not trying to be mean or anything but if it is a her and you are a her make sure that your friend isn't straight first because if she is she might be freaked out a little i know i would be(no offence at all)

just be honest and let him/her know that feelings for them have developed because of what you have been through together and you think the two of you would be better off together than with someone else

Say it and get it over with!!! Why stress over something that you could resolve in one day?? Knowing is much better than being a wimp and wondering...............
