I remember that song!
I think he is wrong, I have friends that are unsaved and friends that are saved... the unsaved cry more.
but he is right that only the good die young, it shows that God is long suffering to those who have yet to accept him. you see, no one will be able to stand before God one day and say that God didn't give them time. the saved are ready to go when their purpose is fulfilled.

Probably due to the punk in Billy Joel in that he wanted to "go out" with a big bang which is his sch tick, mostly=P Sounds (the words)like a bitter, cynical & sceptical man indeed.

Billy Joel is an awesome musical artist whom like other artists has the right to express his views in his art. Billy is one of my favorite musicians.

Don't forget that he is also speaking metaphorically.
He is not talking about the actual Saints. He is talking about those pious types who devote their lives to self sacrifice.
And you are taking the lyrics out of context, he is singing to a Catholic girl who won't put out.
Don't try to nuke these lyrics.

This was a hit when my sisters and I were teenagers; we were Catholic and we loved it. All three of us are still big Billy Joel fans but only one of us is still Catholic.
