We are still sorting things out after Vatican II. It takes about 100 years for an Ecumenical Council to be fully realized. The situation that we are in reminds me of the aftermath of Nicea I, where things went crazy for a few decades when people refused to implement the council and did weird things with it. Same with post Vat. II. I believe that the fruit on the tree is still in its flowering stage, so we will see what we will see.
