Go to the doctor. Addiction is a medical issue that should be addressed by your physician. You will have severe problems if you do not confront this soon.

I changed my diet to include a lot of things that cause you to have a bowel movement naturally like lettuce, cereals with fiber, etc. Watch what you eat and drop the laxatives.

You may need to talk to your doctor. Since you're addicted, your body has learned to depend on them. It probably depends on how long you've been using them. If you're addicted, then it has become a medical problem as well as psycological. You could try switching to natural types in the meantime like Colace if you're using the stimulant kind like Dulcolax. You need to see a doctor though because you can develop syndromes such as inflammatory bowel disorders, similar to ulcerative colitis.

If you take too many laxatives your intestines will become lazy so to speak, and won't work by themselves, you should eat lots of fiber and drink lots of water, a visit to a Dr. would be good for you

You should probably see a doctor.
Why don't you try natural fiber pills or eat more vegetables - maybe that would help you stop taking the laxatives.

it can be done, but it will take plenty of time and determination, and believe me, it will be worth it.
listen to me:
double the amount of water you drink. add bran cereal and or oatmeal to your diet. exercise, at least walk 20 to 30 minutes a day.
most ladies as we get older start to battle with this problem. if it's already got out of hand for you, i hope you have good success in reducing your dependence.
if you still have trouble after trying these natural means, please call your doctor.

I think this falls under the category of an eating disorder. You might try going to your doctor to get some help.

it'll be hard, and it may require talking to your doctor, but, it can be overcome... eating plenty of fruit, veggies (spinach and sweet potatoes are great!) and fiber. lotsa fiber!!! drink plenty of water, cut the soda out and only lil' juice.. prunes are also natures best laxatives, so get to chomping!!!!

Wean yourself off slowly, keep very well hydrated, increase your fiber intake (bran, raw vegetables, oats and grains), and try prune juice. Beware of more major problems if you don't get off the l's.
