Do you care more about others than yourself. Can you handle sick, injured, dying children and adults.
Can you p/u vomit, stool and other fluids.
Can you deal with people and stress.
If yes to the majority of the above, volunteer at a hospital or home for the aged.
Good luck. My wife is a nurse, but I could never be.

talk to someone who is a nurse so they can really tell you what it is about or ask if you can shadow (follow) a nurse for a day. Call a manager of a unit and tell them your interested and see if they are willing to let you shadow a nurse, doesn't hurt to try. Its not an easy job but it can be rewarding.
When I first started nursing school and we started on the floors I had NO idea what I was getting into, so your doing the right thing by finding out what nursing is really all about now.
Good luck!

the answer depend's on you and only you but since you are not sure try talking to an experienced nurse who is close to you in some way and if you like the job go for it . there is also another way to find this out but I don't think you will believe it. If you want to then try this-Think about being a nurse constantlybefore you sleep and try going to sleep thinking about it you wimight see what you really think in your dream but you might have to try it a several times

definately volunteer... i'm studying to be a nurse.. I work at a hospital right now and i love it...I started as a volunteer and would watch the nurses take care of the patients-and then i started working here and i had more access to their records to see what was going on with them-but nursing is not for everybody...you have to be very patient..

Go work in a nursing home that is very short staffed, if you can handle the pressure of being a CNA in a nursing home than you will make an excellent nurse that can overcome any obstacle. Trust Me!!!

If you can manage it, I would suggest shadowing a nurse on the job one day. Follow a nurse through their entire day, see what they do and how they work. That will give you a good sense of whether it would be a good job for you.

Volunteer at your locla hospital and be very observant of everything that goes on and then decide what direction you would like to go. I have a sister in law who is a nurse for a prison and she does virtually nothing for big bucks!
