Aside from hemorrhoids, it is theoretically possible to develop peritonitis from tearing the bowel and getting fecal matter into the abdominal cavity. However, that more often happens as a result of insertion of foreign objects as in homosexual practices. That can compound the problem. Stool softeners are available for other purposes. Talk to your doctor before doing anything. If you do not have a doctor, go to one of those free clinics. Your health is more important than saving face.

Do you mean pushing hard? If you have a long history of hard bowel movements you will have a higher risk of hemaroids in the future. Eat a bunch of Vitamin C and fruit!

I ti is possible that with a stool that was too hard, near impaction, that you could slightly tear the anal opening. However this would only be a small tear if it occurred. It would heal on its own.

I've heard of people getting aneurisms from trying too hard. Ever get too dizzy trying to get it out? Also, sometimes you may even tear the sphincter.
