a guy aka MIDGET lives in a 10 story building, on the 10TH FLOOR.
when its SUNNY, he just rides the elevator ALL THE WAY UP. when its a RAINY day, he with his umbrella has to ride the elevator to the the 5th floor, then stops, and then just runs all the way to the 10th floor, not straight with the elevator.
WHY????

i don't have the answer but duhhh what the heck is wrong with these people? u said he rides straight up on a SUNNY day so he would not have the umbrella to hit the button, on a RAINY day that would be the time i would think he had the umbrella to hit the 10 fl. they r answering *** backwards, unless u said the riddle wrong, which im assuming u didn't, but its bothering me now so i hope someone gets it while I'm still thinking..........
OK assuming you didnt say it backwards this is my stupid guess, rainy days he is holding an umbrella and whatever else he carries on home, sunny days he has a free hand to carry his little fold out stool to stand on and hit the button, OR he has a DOORMAN that helps him out on sunny days, but rainy days he needs to stay at his post to open the door quickly for the rest of the tenants running towards the door in the downpour w/ their hands full.....now i give up did anybody get it yet, or are u wrong in the writing???? or is it that u never mentioned the elevator only goes to 5 all the time??

Are you sure you didn't get this backwards? I have seen this type of riddle before and the answer is that he can only reach the button to the 10th floor with the umbrella. But the way you wrote it, he doesn't have the umbrella when he goes all the way to the 10th floor. If written correctly, I await the answer as it has me stumped!

Shouldn't it be the other way around? He rides to the top when he HAS his umbrella because he needs it to reach the 10th floor button?

He can't reach the 10th floor button (can only reach 5) unless he has his umbrella to reach the button.
