It's not that the religions (I'm sensing you might have Christianity in particular?) particularly hate homosexuals, it's just that they don't like the lifestyle. God commanded His people to love everyone, including (I think in these times perhaps especially) homosexuals. It is extremely hypocritical for a religion to offer love to everyone---except a certain group of people, almost like a holy clique. I don't know about other religions, so I'll use Christianity. Understand that the Bible never tells the Christian to hate anyone, including homosexuals. Pardon the cliche, but it's the sin that they are supposed to hate, not the sinner. If Christians were more loving towards gays, remembering that they are people too, with hopes, dreams, fears, and feelings, perhaps the relations between the two groups wouldn't be as strained.

Because some book (A mythology) says that being gay is a sin blah blah blah. So the religions are brought up to hate gays pretty much. I don't think there is anything wrong with it even though I'm not gay i just don't care if people like the same sex, its just a natural thing.

Because it's also a sad fact that gay people are doing those immoral things which gained disapproval from many people. Personally for me, I don't like gay very much. They are trying to be someone who they shouldn't be. It's acceptable if they just declare themselves as gay, make the better of it, because they can't stop themselves from being so. It's just bad because most of them are having a relationship with same sex and some are even dressing up like the opposite sex.
Well, even if I don't approve of them, I respect their decision. So, I treat them alright.

first, i just wanna say i totally support gay people and gay rights, but anyways, because they believe according to their bibles or other books that marriage should be between a man and a woman (judaism, christianity, and islam for starters) since gay people can get married (bush hasen't completely taken away their rights yet), it is against the religion. not just marriage, but most religions just think it is morally wrong...partly because it is different than what they are used to and are A. afraid of differences or B. want everyone in thier religion to follow the same paths everyone takes, they don't want people straying from their religion....the more differences, the more chance of them leaving religion

The Old Testament condemns homosexuality as an abomination in the eyes of the Lord and commands that they be executed by stoning. All religions derived from Judaism reflect that. I know of no other religion that cares, and, anthropologically, homosexuality is considered the norm rather than the exception in most cultures. Hating gays is no different from hating Jews, Catholics, or Islamics, in each case it is condemnation for non-conformity with Christian dogma. If you recall, Hitler, a devout Christian who enjoyed the support of Christian churches worldwide including in the U.S., went after gays just a fanatically as he did Jews and Gypsies.

Hummmmm........ very observant of you! On a psychological point of view, they have a problem with it because they have their own hidden secret fantasies! All that stuff was added to all the religions after the thought of what actually transpired! Its all a control thing. Its very obvious when someone has to tell someone else how to act and behave! Not my cup of tea! I have no problems with anyone gay or otherwise. That is my mantra and thus far Ive had no problems living this way!

See religious homophobes added things to the thier Bibles a long time ago. Add that to that there still are homophobes out there and you get a lot of religious people that don't like gay people with so called justification.

It's not that Religions do not like homosexuals (not gays) is because we as Christians must dislike what God likes and must love what God loves and we can't be part of the world if we want to inherit the kingdom of God and that is the way it is it's not only homosexuals that will not inherit Gods kingdom, but the adulterers, not the sodomites(those submitting to homosexuals), nor thieves, drunkards, nor extortioners, nor covetous, nor revilers. will inherit Gods' kingdom so it's not like God is just after the homosexuals it's all that is unclean that won' inherit the kingdom of God If you would pick up a bible and start reading it you will find out more about God and who he is and what we as his followers must do in order to inherit the kingdom our selves it's not easy ,but I have to do what is right in the sight of God. After all he is the only one that can give any of us enterial life. I tell you to get you a bible and read it and learn God for yourself .Stop going off what you here someone else say about him the bible is the best book ever written please believe from a true Christian who loves God .

They believe it is a terrible sin. Maybe it is but it is not one of the ten commandments. People must realize that one sin is as great as the other such as stealing and killing are equal sins according to God. Some Christians don't want to associate with gay people and judge them harshly; however, we should care about all people and leave the judging up to God.

It is difficult for me to answer this question, particularly in regard to Christianity. After all, it was Jesus who chose to affiliate himself with the tax collectors, prostitutes, diseased and other "undesirables" of the time, as opposed to the respected religious leaders. I can't imagine that Jesus would shun people who are gay, rather, I think he would embrace them. It is a shame when Christians hate, because that is the antithesis of Jesus's message.
How many people do not go to church because they (sometimes correctly) fear condemnation? I can't imagine that this is the vision that Christ had for his church.
Also, it is interesting that many Christians do not focus on solutions for divorce, or hate it to the same degree that many seem to hate homosexuality. Jesus speaks out against divorce more than he does against homosexuality, and yet many divorced people feel free to hate gay people in the name of God. I'm divorced, and I know that God forgives.
