Urban legend from the 70s, but not a shred of truth to it. There was actually a special done on it way back when and they showed that the cost of worms was so high that it wasn't even cost effective for anyone to try it.

On the otherhand, White Castle uses a mix of beef and veal in their burgers, which would also be expensive. But by putting the holes in the burgers, they cut the costs and make it happen.

But no, there is no worm meat in hamburgers. Never was....McDonalds was fully exonerated.

Yes, they do. They farm them in Nebraska in large underground facilities. They ship them out by the truckload to meat packers around the nation, but the biggest slaughterhouses are in Chicago. It all started in 1943 when the U.S. was facing a meat shortage, and worm-farming and worm additives were seen as a way to help meet this need. They had many propaganda posters to help promote the program, such as "Worms against Hitler" and "Vermifuge for Victory!".
