Volunteers perform a service of their own free will (voluntarily) , and often with the understanding that they won't be paid for their service. Usually they volunteer in response to a need, and without concern for payment. This applies to organizational volunteers also, such as a volunteer fire department.

In addition to what others have said about volunteering because it feels good and is good for the community, there's also a karma thing at work here. For example, people donate blood to the Red Cross knowing that it may help another person. Someday the person giving the blood may be the one who needs it. With luck, other volunteers will be there to help.

Hey, I resemble that remark. Volunteers make things easier on everyone. SInce there is no payroll to consider, there are no taxes to pay, no benefits to sponsor, and no unions to deal with. As a volunteer, it is our reasonable service to lend a helping hand for as long as we can wherever we can to lighten the load of our fellow man. Amen.

Money is not everything. Satisfaction means a lot. You will never understand until you actually do it. One day when you volunteer for something and watch the gratefulness well up in someones eyes you will know the difference.
Jesus wants us to help the widows and children and anyone who can't help themselves.
Jesus loves you.

People volunteer to help others, not for the fame or the pay.
Try it, you will see that volunteering will make you feel like you have accomplished something great.

Volunteers are not supposed to be paid...otherwise...it would be a job...not volunteering.
People volunteer because they have a heart and do not want something in return

No volunteer gets paid back for their service. You "volunteer" to do something for free. Whatever it is, they chose to do it.
