The dealership down the road from us had one for sale,he shipped it out to another state...apparently they are rear wheel drive, not good for Wisconsin. Before we knew that,my boyfriend wanted to buy it,i read a lot of info on the internet about them...they are one of the worst cars cadillac made, and cheaply made.Because they stopped making them, its hard to find parts for them, and the biggest complaint on the cars review was that parts for it are extremely expensive.Look up car reviews for it and read what other people have experienced.

The early Cadillac Cateras has issues. If you're going to buy one, buy the newest model you can find/afford. Every year, the Catera got better and better (more reliable). It's not a bad looking car and you can get them without selling your soul.

The Cadillac Cimarron was actually the worst Cadillac ever made.. Many people actually love the Catera.. It's a little small for me, but I considered one before.. I like them...

I had one - a 1997 back in 2001. It gave me nothing but problems - It ran fine for about 6 months and then it was nothing but costly problem after problem. You name it, electrical, engine, etc. I coined mine the "Crap-tera". I had to sell the car very cheap just to get out of it!

It drove really bad in slick weather - rain or snow. I have had rear-wheel drive before and never experienced such a terrifying experience.

I believe there were some thoughts of legally calling it a lemon but Cadillac stopped making it - (Coincidence?!). Originally, the Catera is a 1994 model year Opel Omega MV6 - Opels, I thought were generally good, but this one was a LEMON!

they are very nice automobiles. and most are priced relativily cheap, considering cost when new. i'v heard the 99's were prone to electral problems.other than that they are well built.(produced by "opel" in germany). if you like the soft cadillac ride you might not be too happy though, as it has a sportier ride. i think its a bit under powered, but then again i also drive a 93 z28 camero.when in the caddy i'm in cruzin' mode, so its just fine! i give it a 9 and thats a 10 to most people, for me a 10 would be an "exotic"... ferrari, lambo' i havent driven a 10 yet :-( someday i will!!! mean while... 2000 black cat', 93 black z28, 94 teal chevy p.u., 19?? yellow & white simplicity lawn tractor whopping 10bhp. ;-)

I had a 98 catera and loved it!! except for the cup holder. it is a poor man's cadillac, but still a cadilliac. it is a high end car, so repairs are going to be more expensive.
