There is a great website that tells you how low of a HCG level each brand of pregnancy test can pick up.

The biggest difference between each test is just that... how early/ little of an hcg level is needed to give a positive.

I personally have counted on the name brand pregnancy tests. Although they all say that they are 99.4 accurate, working in the hospital, I have heard way too many stories of young girls buying pregnancy tests from the dollar store, having a negative result then finding out a few months later that they were pregnant. It is a personal decision, but I personally spend the extra few dollars for a good test. I mean, I use miracle whip but would never use the store brand....Its all preference....Good luck.

THE PRICE. all are measuring HCG. it is true that SOME may be a LITTLE touchier...and MAY give a reading a little sooner, BUT, even if you read the first response pregnancy tests (for example) it will say that they can NOT always predict early and are most effective when used on the first day of your missed period. just read the fine print when you're comparing the different brands!

Some of the more expensive tests can detect pregnancy earlier. However, the less expensive tests are generally the same as the more expensive ones. In some cases, it is marketing. Look at the expensive tests...they are packaged in a way that appeals to women who WANT to be pregnant, and are willing to pay extra. THe less expensive ones are all businesslike in their packaging and appeal to someone who does not wish to be pregnant. So, you can be savvy and save money.

well, i would use the name brand......i took a cheap test one day and it was negative.....the next day, i went to the doctor with a cold, they took the test and it was positive.......and those results were only at 4 weeks pregnant!! so, i think it's worth it to buy the more expensive, name brand...........good luck

expensive brand tests will give you a more accurate result than a cheaper one.

They are all the same. They either detect HCG in your urine or they don't. They advertise that some are more sensitive than others and can tell sooner. I have tried a lot of them since it took 6 mo for me to get pregnant and they are all the same in my opinon.

look at what they are made of...
FDA regulations require that generic drugs be the same as the brand names...it's not like Jif peanut butter vs store brand..where one sucks a lot more...look for the method, or active ingredient..if it is the same, then there is no difference.

Not much difference. Check the expiration date before purchase and read the instructions carefully before using it.
