I see muslim organisations angry about cartoons, i see christian organisations angry about the da vinci code...one cartoon, one movie, and huge protests...

(this question is not about those things, because i can even symphatize with their feelings)

I just wondered, all the movies, books, art-works about God or Allah, all the religious holidays...why don't Atheists get more offended about the insults on their beliefs ?

You really crossed the line on this one, mark. Not only will you be hearing from my lawyer, but I've already put the boycott plans into motion.

You're finished.

Have you been sleeping, or did you just land on this planet? How is it that no one can put a Christmas tree on government property anymore? Or, everyone simply says "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah? Or, why is it that a court case to remove the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance" was taken all the way to the Supreme Court? Why, it was because of atheists, that why. My question to you is, why would an atheist be offended by someone else practicing their religion in public if they actually don't believe in God? How could you get offended by something you don't believe in? Follow the three links I've provided you below and begin your journey into the wonderful world of atheist activism. Are they offended? You bet they are, and they're working very hard to make everyone they meet, and mock, know about it.

If you define Atheism as those who do not believe in God(s),
then how do you offend them? You make fun of them for
not believing in something?

At best, they shrug their shoulders and laugh to themselves
and say "this guy's an idiot, he believes in things that have
no rational basis" and they immediately discount the insulter
as an idiot.

If, on the other hand, you define "Atheism" as those who
believe in Evolution (which is not a credible definition, by the
way), then you insult them for believing something which
has at least some tangible evidence - and you are insulting
their whole structure of thought.

Consider, if you wanted to insult a Christian, which would
be more effective? Insulting his believes or insulting him
for the fact that he doesn't believe in some other religion?

I think the point is, Athiests don't really have beliefs (at least in the vein of religion). They aren't offended by other religions for the same reason that a MacDonalds employee isnt offended if a Burger King employee talks badly about Pizza Hut.

Actually, the American Atheist website does lash out at some celebrities who say things about atheists.

Katie Curic recently used the discriminatory remark that there are no atheists in foxholes and I think Charlie Sheen said something about how could anyone look into their child's eyes and not believe in god.

It seems to be acceptable in the public to say such discrimanatory remarks about atheists.

Because they are open minded ,I think. Religion and blind faith has a srange way of making people behave like morons. How else can you desribe them if they believed that God love is unconditional yet burn their souls in hell for eternity if they sinned?
Weird!!Atheist dont believed in a GOD, you cannot insult a person who has no faith.By the way, I'm not an atheist.Ido believed there is a GOD,but I hate religions. They are divisive!

It may depend on where you are. They get offended often. They have protested school graduations because a pray was used to open it. They do not want "under God" in the Pledge. They reported all school personnel that said, "Merry Christmas" or who decorated their classrooms or office areas. Just to name a few.

Most of the Atheists I know, this is what I've been told. When you don't believe in anything, when you don't have to follow the law of God who doesn't exist for you, it's hard to get offended because there's really nothing you value spiritually.

Actually some do, I know some atheists who get mad about being forced to see so many religous thing or having to pray at school event or say the pledge. They get mad just not over books and movies as much.

Not that I am bitter or anything, but atheists seem to benefit from religious holidays, e.g. Easter, Christmas... Those holidays have been commercialized to the point that they have lost their original intended meanings.
