Canon Digital Rebel D350
Nikon D50
Sony A100

This is my first DSLR camera. I am very amateur. I am looking for something easy to learn and use.

I'm a Nikon user personally. I bought the D200 a few months ago and love it!!!

check out this web page:

www.dpreview.com

You'll find people on their who are very knowledgeable about photography and cameras. I think you'll pick up some good advice.

I like Nikon because you can use the all the older lenes on their new camera models. So, if you really get into photography....and you buy a Nikon, then start buying different lenes for it....you can reuse them if you upgrade your camera later.

I'm not familiar with Sony, but with Canon, you need to upgrade the lens when you buy a new model. ....that's what I thought anyway!! I guess with the newer Canon's you can carry the lenes over....in that case (Nikon or Canon)....I can't technically distinguish between either! I've always owned Nikons....so I stick with them because I have their lenes.

Seriously, post this same question on www.dpreview.com....I'm sure someone there will give you a really good answer! =)

Have fun!!!

Once you get one...this is a very cool site to post your pics (people will critique your shots):

www.usefilm.com

It's free!

Here if this helps...it's a side by side comparison from dpreview's site:

Being a Canon 20D owner and having previously owned an A1 and Sony digicam I'd say go with the Digital Rebel. You'll have access to the numerous lens offerings that Canon has available meaning room to grow while you're learning. Not to mention if you decide to move up to a 20D, 30D, or higher you haven't lost your investment in optics. Canon is very no more difficult to learn than any other DSLR on the market. In fact, check into your nearby community college or extension program and you'll likely find an Intro to Digital Photography class which will really speed up the learning curve for ya'.

I personally prefer the Canon Digital Rebel, but that is because the lenses are interchangeable with my manual Rebel. Beyond that, Canon makes good cameras, and only Nikon has been making them anything like as long.

Of the three I would either go with the cannon or the Nikon. My first SLR camera was a nikon. Recently I bought a Nikon D50 and I am happy with my choice.

I suggest look closely at the specs of both camera and compare them. Also look at the price. It may also be considered if you can afford it and any other accessories you might need or want.
