The movie "The Da Vinci Code" demoralizes Jesus by erringly depicts him as having slept with and fathered a baby by a prostitute. The public had no problem with this. Everyone was also teed off by Mel Gibson when he made "The Passion Of The Christ". But, when it comes to other religions such as buddism, islam, hinduism, etc., we are forced to tolerate them, or be sued, or even jailed.

Many Americans laugh at the Muslims, but they do'nt put up with anyone insulting Allah, Muhammed and their religion (they'll kill over it). America says that they're "crazy", but how can they be when they respect their countrys religion more than we do our own?

Lighten up a little. Stress is a killer. I don't think that the Davinci Code was meant to make fun of Christianity. It's just entertainment! It's actually not even about Christianity. Have you read it?

& I don't know why people were upset over The Passion. Some people just feel the need to dictate what others watch. Hmmm . . .isn't that kind of what you're wishing about the Davinci Code? Just a thought. Live and let live people.

The idea that Jesus was not interested in girls sounded ridiculous to me even as a child. It just never made any sense. It still doesn’t.

You have your facts wrong anyway. Mary M. was never a prostitute she was a much-respected figure in the early Christian communities. She was seen as a disciple of Jesus and there is even a surviving partial gospel named after her.

The lies that were made up about her were intended to disempower women. This was an on going process that started in the earliest days of the catholic church when women were seen as a threat to the patriarchal hierarchy that sought to take complete control of the church.

You guys need to get it through your heads that Jesus was a man in every sense of the word. He was not a homosexual like the so-called apostle Paul who never even knew Jesus. There is nothing shameful or degrading about Jesus loving someone. Get real.

okay first of all, America is not a Christian country. It is a democracy. Christianity just happens to be popular here.
But our government does not censor anyone, even when they make fun of religion. In those countries where they don't "tolerate" anyone disrespecting Allah, trust me, it's not some wonderful conservative Utopia.
The freedom that allows people to criticize Christianity is the same freedom Christians use to criticize other faiths. Trust me, in a lot of countries, Christians aren't allowed to do that.

(a) Hello, OUR COUNTRY DOES NOT HAVE "A" RELIGION.

(b) IT WAS A FRIGGIN' MOVIE; GET OVER IT.

(c) What the HELL are you talking about, FORCED to tolerate Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism? I don't see anybody fighting to get THEIR holy rules posted in government buildings. You've already got YOUR god's name on your money (where it shouldn't be), in the damn Pledge, etc. etc. What, precisely, do you have to tolerate about Buddhists and Muslims and Hindus? Does their mere existence offend you?

If you're so keen on Christianity, why don't you go and find a country where it actually IS the OFFICIAL national religion, BECAUSE IT IS NOT HERE IN THE USA.

Well perhaps you think everyone is disrespectful of Christianity is because you are a Christian and thus are hypersensitive when anybody has an opposing view. I don't think we as a nation are more open to other religions. I think maybe because the Christians are so pervasive everywhere - from politics, education, moral standpoints, etc., that there is going to be some backwash because nobody likes to be told constantly that they are wrong because they don't believe what you believe.

It's pretty presumptuous of you to call Christianity "America's own religion." The fact is that the majority of people in the US might be Christians, but this is not a Christian country, nor was it founded on Christian ideals.

The fact is that you seem to be coming down as opposed to tolerance, which is certainly in keeping with the standard contemporary Christian/American viewpoint. Nice work.

It is easy to make fun of things you don't understand. Man chooses darkness to hide the thoughts with in him. To make someone else out to be the bad guy only builds their own self image up.

But Christians have brought alot of this on ourselves to be using condemnation instead of compassion. Pointing the finger of blame instead opening their hearts. Claiming something without truly believing it ourselves. How could we expect anyone to believe as we do when many that claim it don't ever practice it.

Why would anyone want to choose Christ for seeing so called Christians? Much of the blame does rest on us.

Now we get offended because others make fun of us. Well I submit to everyone that if the few who follow the teachings of Christ and learned what he did and lived it. The world would notice.
That if we showed compassion for others, put others first, walked by faith instead of shouting it in peoples faces. We would humble make a real difference.

I haven't seen anything like what you are talking about. Christians make fun of their own religion. Many denominations can't stand other denominations. Catholics don't like Protestants, Jehovah's Witnesses don't like anyone. Each denomination says they are the right one. No one is forcing anyone to tolerate any religion. It is just that would you like the Koran or the Gita to be displayed in public places? If you say you don't then what gives you the right to display anything from the Bible?

what the hell?
You are saying Americans tolerate every other religion, that is so not true.
Americans bash against Islam no doubt.
I mean, I am a Muslim girl. So many times, i have past by these Americans, and i get the dirtiest looks, and the dirtiest comments.
