Couple of tips here from a Pampered Chef consultant. First, you may want to invest in stoneware. Stoneware is awesome for helping to prevent burnt food, bakes very thoroughly because of it being made from clay versus metal or glass.
Also, you might want to get some better cookware. Cookware should not get ruined that easily if the pieces are of a high quality. Ours are the best in the industry, are super-durable and can be put in the oven to be used as bakeware up to 400F.
We offer these items and more at my website. For more info on these products, visit www.pamperedchef.biz/ candiceskitchen.
Hope this helps you to have better luck with your next batch!

Use a vegetable oil spray to line pot....Easiest way is to melt the butter and marshmallows on very low heat, and add half a cup of thick syrup (bee hive syrup), then remove from heat and stir in rice crispies....this will prevent the burning and save your cookware, and they will also be nice n soft to eat!
Good luck !!! ;)

Irish 1952 answered best. To clean up your pot put an inch of water in the bottom of the pot and add 1/4 cup of baking soda put it on the stove and bring the water to a boil let it boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and just let it sit for a couple of hours. The scorched stuff should easily come off the bottom of the pot. Rinse and repeat this process to restore your pot.

ummm....I dont think you need to cook them at all....My aunt doesnt anyways. WEll, I mean cept for the marshmallows obviously. And hers are amazing.
You put the marshmalows and sugar and stuff in a huge pot and met it a together into this gorgeous goey mess take it off the heat and add whatever else you want in them (peanut butter, vanilla, choc chips, food colouring, toffee bits, etc) followed by the rice krispies. This all has to be done quickly and Stir stir stir baby. Then, again quickly, scoop it all out into your buttered bakeware dishes. press it all down til its nice and dense and just leave it to set!

How did you burn them? You don't bake them. Melt the marshmellows, margerine in the microwave. Add the rice krispies and stir. In a greased pan, spread the mixture evenly. Cover with saran wrap. (all you need to know is on the side of the rice krispies box)

You should have seen the mess I made the first time I tried to make them - low heat to do the melting, take it off the heat, add the rice crispies, stir quickly then immediately dump it in your baking pan.

Stirring the marshmallow mixture CONSTANTLY is key. So is using a heavy-duty pan. I use cast-iron. Just so we're clear, I'm assuming that you're not baking the squares after adding the marshmallow mix to the Rice Krispies, yes?

When the marshmallows and butter are melted, remove the pot from the heat. You don't need to have the pot on the stove when you add the rice krispies.

Did you grease the pan? Try getting nonstick cookware too!
