Boarders - like people who rent rooms ?

Ohhhhhhh ... you mean borders. Like all other narrow minded, elitists, you should learn to spell before you worry about world affairs you know nothing about.

And "putz" - in the usage you wish to employ is spelled with a "z". Putts is a verb used on the golf course.

Divine MrsM should get the points. She is 100% right.

That would never happen unless there was an imminent danger calling for it.

Closing the border entirely can put a good hurt on the economy, and can even have companies here in the U.S. filing civil suits for damages incurred by such an action.

What needs to happen is a tighter lockdown and greater deterrent along the border using more national guard than is already down there. In addition to the numbers, they need to be the second line of defense behind the border patrol given permission to apprehend or engage illegal entry when necessary. Right now, they're hands are tied and there's not enough of a barrier to slow illegals down.

Congress needs to get a bill going soon, and like you said, set aside the question about what to do with those already here. We can worry about that later.

Unfortunately, that is unrealistic. People travel internationally for pleasure, business and to see family. To isolate ourselves completely would be too much like our isolation that allowed Japan and Germany to move freely at the beginning of WWII.

I hate long plane flights, but I've been out of the country three times this year already on business. I think some people will always need to move across the borders.

Now if we talk about now allowing immigration for a period, what about the people who've been waiting years to immigrate legally?

Leave it open and simply throw every illegal in jail like in Arizona, then let them earn citizenship by really doing the jobs that Americans dont want. If that dosne't work a movie called Syolent Green comes to mind.

the rights of Americans were designed to be granted to Americans, not anyone who could run, jump or swim over here.

Absolutely. There should be no illegal immigration whatsoever. And we should study all immigration and decide what it costs us and how much we can afford to have without running out of natural resources, and who we should allow in. Maybe it's not healthy for us to have so many immigrants from South and Central America, there should be a better mixture of people from all countries. And maybe we should aim to have more educated immigrants instead of those who have almost no useful skills.

There will never be a complete stop to illegal immigration.A vast majority of the illegals in the country were once legal, and are now illegal. What does that tell you?
I want secure borders.I can't understand why we don't have secure borders now.But that will NOT stop illegal immigration.

No why would that happen. The only ones the government wants to keep out are the browns not the whites.
