What format must a dvd-r be in to play in a dvd player (mpeg? etc)?

I have a converter but dont know how to use it, its blaze audio pro.

If you are using Blaze Media Pro then in the right hand tab just select Burn CD/DVD. Then from the drop down menu select Burn CD (VCD/SVCD). select VCD or SVCD and add your files. This will create a VCD or SVCD that can be played in most home DVD players.

For video, it needs to be encoded in MPEG-4.

Some players only run +R formatted disc's. Check your manual,,
