Sorry to have tell you that - just Love them while you have them and be patient remember an old dog is like an old person. They are alot slower and not as sharp as they were when they were young.

Be prepared

be blessed

Yes, it's possible. Unfortunately, dogs can get many of the same things humans can - strokes and cancer. Dogs don't live nearly as long as people do - it's a sad fact of life when you love your dog and see him getting older. I've had many great dogs in my life, but I still miss all of the ones who are gone. Just enjoy his company and treat him right while he is with you - and then remember all the great times you had when he is gone.

Dogs definitely can get heart disease and go into heart failure especially as they get older. But dogs don't get heart attacks per say. The mechanism that causes a heart attack in humans does not usually occur in dogs in regards to heart disease. Humans get an heart attack when major blood vessels that supply that heart muscle are occluded usually with plaque. This does not routinely occur in dogs because dogs don't live long enough for a build up of plaque to occur in their blood vessels when compared to humans. When dogs die of heart disease it usually from a dysfunction of the heart muscles or valves that can cause decrease blood flow to the body which progresses to death.

yes, it is possible for dogs to have heart problems just like humans do. You should take your dog to the vet and have an overall checkup done and they can tell you if it is healthy or not.

Yes. Dogs can have heart attacks..and heart disease. I had to put my last Golden down because he was in heart failure and there was else to do but watch him suffer. I felt I owed him a painless and quick death, and not suffering for days.

yes, but if you take your dog to the vet regularly, your vet will help you keep your dog healthy thru proper diet and any medicine needed. if your dog is very old, take him/her in at least twice a year for a checkup. good luck!
