If born in the United States, you will always have citizenship. It is unlawful and against the constitution to take away one's American citizenship, as it is also unlawful and against the constitution to expel a citizen from the US.

I think you have to live in canada for four or five years before you are considered a canadian citizen. I am not sure about this but that is how it works if us canadians wanted to move to united states. I think you should check with the people who run the U>S and Canadian Border. They can definetly give you a more accurate answer than I can !

Canada, eh?

You will still be a U.S. citizen living in Canada where it's cold nine months out of the year!

Good Luck!

you can keep your US citizenship, once you move to Canada to live and work. You can apply to be a permanent resident(then after a period of time a Canadian citizen) You can then hold dual citizenship.

You can become a Legal resident of the country youre living in and be subject to that country's laws. It does not make sense to renounce your U.S. citizenship if you should decide to come back to the U.S.A.
