Beacuse spoiled people have less reason to need a God. They think they are self sufficient. Then when disaster strikes they're on their knees begging for Gods help. This is the history of mankind.

the Americans as I read it typed with a cynicism from your fingertips, very much believe strongly in relgion and religions. honestly, if there was not a strong belief in religion in this, the America as it is written, there there would not be certain laws in this country that is practiced and upheld. Things like the penitentry system, rehabilitation, checks and balances, and the American Constitution...which is not a law persay but it does hold the ability for each American Citizen and/or Citizen of America to have the ability to practice personal religion, congregation, and speech.

The Americans, as you say and in America that is a seperatist turn of phrase, believe strongly in not just one religion as well. There are Protestant Christians and their sects and divisions, Catholic Christians and their sects, Jewish practicioners and their sects and divisions, islamic/Muslims and their sects and divisions, Pagans and their, oh, so many numberous sects and divisions and so many others with their own beliefs and philosophies. And to imagine it is all legal and utilized by people across the nation, I can not even begin to understand why this question would be asked.

Just because this corner of the media (aka Yahoo Answers) is overrun with "athiests" does not mean that all of the whole of The America is Athiestic. It only means that more "athiests" are computer literate and know how to get to this particular area.

I find your question insulting and demeaning, I realize you may not have intended it as such, but the language/culture barrier between even English speaking countries is enough to spark a fued. Please think before you speak next time.

We live in a very selfish society where nobody cares about anything or anyone but themselves. God and religion has taken a back seat to material things and in a lot of cases, so has our families. Our homes, our cars, our jobs and our bank accounts has removed God from His throne. It is sad to say that Americans were much better off from a moral and ethical prospective when we had less. Now that we have been blessed with more our hearts have gone cold. The American family is in grave danger as divorce rates and homosexuality continue to skyrocket and you atheist have the nerve to say that we don't need God. I have news for you. Whether you believe in God or not at the rate things are going you will be experiencing hell right here on earth. As for me I am going to continue to give God His due and spread the gospel. Since dedicating my life to Christ and walking away from ignorance and the wicked ways of man, I have learned what it means to be truly happy. I will pray for all of you non believers and hope you learn the error of your ways before it is too late. Ignorant is the man who thinks he is smarter than God. This is the Caveman signing out and swinging his club for Jesus. Peace.

Do you really mean religion or faith. I don't claim religion but I strongly Profess a faith In Jesus Christ. I don't demand that you believe as I believe However I do Demand that you do not deny me the right to have my faith.

I will not demand you follow my faith but I will show you my faith my walk. I will not accuse you of anything, I will just walk by my faith. See if I live by the example of Jesus' teaching then I need only do as I believe. That means everything to me.

I don't care what anyone else thinks, because this is the life I have chosen, to put others before myself, to have compassion for others, and to balance my life to serve and to give. To teach my family as I believe. And who have I hurt or condemned?

That is the difference between Religion and my faith. I will choose my faith, my belief over religion. It is so much better.

Even if atheist were right (they are not) which would be better?

Where in the world have you been hanging out? Americans are very strongly immersed into religion. Very few atheists exist here. Unfortunately some of those few are very loudly trying to control the rest of us.

WOW that's an unfair stereotype. Not every American is an Atheist . We have religions of many denominations here. Some choose to have a religion, others don't, others are atheist.
Here in America we have the freedom to choose our jobs, our religions, and so on. I personally believe that a persons prefererences or choices are their business and they should not be snubbed or condemned for what they believe in or don't believe in.

Screw your atheist comments. Religion is the politics of belief. Religion is for people who don't have enough faith to carry them thru the day. If the members of the church weren't watching, who knows what you would do. I'll admit it does some people good, ones that can't make decent friends on there own, ones that can't quiet the madness in their material mindset brain long enough to have quiet moment in nature, and ones who seem to think everyone should believe what they believe so they don't seem so strange. I can be with like minded people every day of the week without anybody getting involved in my business.

Because religious freedom is open to all here. No one has to fight to have any religious belief, they don't have to put their lives on the line or hide their religion. So, they just take it in stride and it seems the younger generations have not been taken to church regularly and because of this, most see no point in believing in a religion.

I believe very strongly in my religion (Christian). I am strong in my faith and believe God has a plan for me... So you are making a generalization and stereotyping Americans..This isn't fair.

where did you get that idea? The churches are full at services. they are constantly being built or renovated.paid for by members.most pray daily. American religions aren't based on brutality and they don't wear rags on their heads to warn people to stay away from them.they don't pray 6 times a day and then go blow somebody up!!

Learn English. But there are atheists in America because we have that freedom, and we have the ability to think. Maybe that is why we are the most powerful nation.
