yes i get them. i know how you feel and really feel for you. and i even wake up with them also at times. this is what i do to calm my self down i pretend of being in a beautiful place an island by myself then i take breathes in and out slowly. i tell my self that these panic/anxiety attacks will not get the best of me because i am bigger and stronger than they are. also you should go to a doctor or psychiatrist and tell them what happens when you experience these attacks and how you are feeling they can guide you in a much better direction. Good Luck and God Bless.

Yes, panic attacks during sleep are common. Dentists see the results every day when they examine the teeth of someone with severe anxiety. People have to sleep with Bite Guards to prevent damage to the jaws and teeth. When you have panic attacks during your sleep, you are not 'resting' your body ; your muscles never relax. All of the muscles in your body (heart included) will be affected in some way from the attacks. Tell your psychiatrist about this problem because you may need a different, or additional, medication. It is a terrifying feeling. Good Luck !

I've had two in my life so far when I sleep, but I don't have them anymore. You may be panicing because your anticipating you will not sleep because you have'nt slept well for a few days, and your worried that you will not sleep at all. The best thing to do is sleep at the same time every night. For example always go to bed at 11:00, and always set your alarm for 8:00 everyday. You may not sleep at first, but evetually your body will set it's internal clock to sleep at that time.
Also try drinking camomile tea, warm milk, turning over your alarm clock, or ask your local health food store other remedies to help cure sleep anxiety.
As for your heart you might be anticipating a heart attack because our heart rate slows down as we enter sleep. Because you're afraid of heart attacks you may be anticipating the slowing beat as a heart attack. If, however, you feel incline to them see a doctor if you feel pain in your chest, indigestion, numbness in the left hand, and blured vision.

I suffer from panic attacks also, and yes you can have them in your sleep. Just thinking about them can bring one on. There are medications you can take to calm you down, and you can learn to bring yourself out of one by breathing slowly into a paper bag . Remember, panic attacks won't kill you, but you might want to to see a psychologist so you can explain why and when you get them. He/she will give you pointers on how to control the attacks, not let them control you. I was so relieved when I found out I wasn't crazy and wasn't having heart attacks. You will be OK!!!!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

Yes, you can. I must say that it sounds like you have a great home support system for your panic attacks. You are truly blessed in that department. Now you just need to seek out the source of these attacks and try to get them treated. Remember to take deep breaths and try to take it easy. It will get better.
