you can put it in the microwave...poke holes in it....put it on a paper towel and microwave for 4 minutes and 30 seconds

Or you can scrub the potato, stab a couple of holes in it and microwave it (3 to 8 minutes depending on the size, with 3 minutes for small fist size, with 8 minutes for the Potato from Planet X).
To make sure it's done, stop the microwave and push a fork into the body of the potato. If it goes in easily, the potato is done.
If you must bake it in the oven, put a clean nail through the middle, which will conduct heat into the center.

Broil (highest temp) on bottom rack inside aluminum foil for 1 hr., or poke a bunch of holes in your very clean, dry potato, wrap with paper towels put in microwave on high for 4-5 minutes depending on size of potato. Oven style taste best.

wrap in foil and poke holes in it. middle rack at 350 for 45-90 minutes depending on size. when pressing gently on the sides and it gives easily is done

don't bake it, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the micro oven for 3 to 5 minutes does the same thing alot faster.
