When I am driving on an interstate why do the slower cars always seem like they are in the left lane and I have to use the right lane to pass ? I don't want to name states, but it seems like NJ drivers always hog left lane, making it dangerous to pass them when they should be in the right lane . I am not making fun of NJ drivers just asking.

Interesting that you should ask, since NJ is one of the few states that reserves the left lane for passing only. I can't tell you why all slow drivers use the left lane, but a friend of mine annoyed me recently by disclosing to me that he hogs the left lane to – in his mind – "teach people a lesson," help enforce the speed limit and "prevent an accident." I tried to explain to him that making people pass on the right is more dangerous than speeding, but he's sold so far down the river on the myth that speeding alone is what makes driving dangerous that I don't know if I could get through to him. People like this think that as long as they are going the speed limit, they have the right to any lane on the road.

You will find that no matter where you go. It is a lack of consideration that can be found throughout the world. It can be best summed as Impoliteness and lack of respect for the other drivers and the law! Slow should be to the right, passing (unless otherwise specified) should be done on the left!

It's not just jersey, I drive all over the country, and it's the same everywhere, there all just idiots that have never been taught what KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS means, and they probably have a damn cell phone glued to their ear and wouldn't think of looking in the rear view mirror.

What chaps me is self-appointed traffic cops like pophet up there who feel it's their right and duty to get in the way.
Dude, just get out of the way, or do you like being tailgated by angry rednecks? You're not going to teach anyone a lesson with your little passive aggressive antics; you're just going to cause more road rage.

Right!!!! They do that in IL also. I think people are getting more stupid when they drive. It drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!
