I got two puppies a week ago and they got a bunch of shots and one pooped out dead white worms for a day and a half and the other had none and then today (about a week later) we find a small piece of poop with about 8 short white and pink worms in it. does any one know what these are? how my dogs got them after they seemed to have gotten rid of the worms? and how to get rid of them?? one more question. can a puppy take the shots for worms more than once in two weeks? or do they have to wait two weeks? all ur answers are very much appreciated....

Call your vet. Worms are serious business and you don't want to rely on bad advice from amateurs on here.

As long as these are just little worms I wouldn't get to worried about it, it can be fixed. There are two ways you can do this, you can take them to the vet and get them a dewormer, which will cost a little more money. Or you can go to Petsmart or your local pet store and get deworming pills. Just make sure you give them the right amount for their weight. You will have to do this again in a month, no matter what way you do it. They will poop out all the dead worms and be o.k.

Sometimes if your puppy has worms really bad then you will need to treat at least twice to get rid of all the worms. You can treat every 2-4 weeks. You need to kill what was alive in there as well as any eggs that the 1st treatment might not have killed

It sounds like your puppies are suffering from tapeworms. They look like rice pellets in the poop. They get these by ingesting a flea. Your vet usually treats with Droncit which comes in pills or injections. Thats how we treat at the clinic I work at at. For the deworming, was it yellow liquid they gave in the mouth? If yes, thats stronged-t. It is very safe and most docs give at least 2 oral dewormings.

If you found the poop outside where the flies can get to it, it probably has fly maggots, which did not come from the puppy.

You have to have fresh poop to check for worms. Your pups are probably OK if they have been wormed.

They get worms from each other or any feces left in the yard containing worms. It's not a hugh, but def. needs to be checked. You'll have to take poo in to your vet, he'll check them, give you pills they have to take for about 3 days. Make sure you keep all poo picked up or they can catch it again. Good Luck

What would you do if YOU pooped worms???

Yes, dogs get them, but it's often very simple to get rid of them, but not always. As extra precaution, pooper scoop the lawn as often as possible and get them on flea preventative.

Get the dog to the vet!!!

wow u need to get them to the vet. serious worm infestations can kill dogs and if they arent protected from those worms they might not be protected for heartworms, either, which are far more serious buisiness! I hope theyre OK!
