Your certainly not required to have a wedding program, but is a great way to add a personal touch to your ceremony.
The Purpose of a wedding program identifies and honors everyone participating in the ceremony, it also makes a wonderful keepsake for your guests.
Things That a wedding Program Should Inlcude are :
members of the wedding party and their Role in it
your officiants name
titles of music played or any special readings
You may choose to make your own programs on a computer. This not only saves money but allows for much greater flexibility and creativity.
Hope this helps and Congratulations

1.Large or small, church or other setting? when you know this, set a date, book the location. Usually 1 yr in advance. Day or evening, lunch, dinner, or cake and punch reception.Once you decide, go to your local State FArm agent and ask for a FREE wedding planner, no obligation. Really helpful.
2.Go to Wedding Shows, lots of free info there
3. The actual program to hand to guests looks good with a picture on front of the couple, maybe a romantic setting. Inside is the order of the ceremony, usually on the right side of the program, listing prayers, songs, and on the left side the attendents, singers, musicians. On the back its nice to write a personal message from the couple to all the guests, thanking them for celebrating this special day with you.

I am designing my own wedding program. I based mine off of a sample I saw in an invitation catalog.
Its the list of events.
The Music
The Exchanging of Vows and Rings
Unity Candle
Mass
More music
Parents Names, Wedding Party names, so on and so forth. Go to Rexcraft.com and do a search for programs. They will have some filled out for you to look at. Just Put your info where its supposed to go.

The wedding program typically details your ceremony and those in your wedding party and their role in the wedding. You can really use any format you like but there are formal ways to do this that can be found online at places like The Knot.com or WeddingChannel.com. Hope that helps!

I used a Hallmark card program that I have on my computer to make my programs (and I bought it through Avon for $20). On the front, I put "A Celebration of Marriage", our names, date and place that our wedding was at.
On the inside left, I put the order that our ceremony was going to go in and music....for example, Bridesmaid Processional "Trumpet Voluntary", Bridal Processional "Bridal March", etc.
On the inside right, I put the names and relation of our wedding party, parents names, and the musician's name.
Hope that helps and good luck!
