We are suppose to keep his day holy, wasn't that on a Saturday?

Apparently not everyone is getting what I thought was a simple enough question. Lets try this. Should you go to Church on Sunday or Saturday according to the commandments?

RO35, I'm not sure you're actually curious about it and want to know the truth...or...you're trying to trip us about the diversity of beliefs.

RO35, if you want the truth...don't look here on 'Answers;' all you'll get is our opinions.

John S and Cindy...I liked your answers.

RO35, if you want the truth...then seek the Truth (capital T). He said "...I am the way the truth and the light: no man comes unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

Yes, Ro, the Old Testament does teach you must worship on the Sabbath (which starts after sundown on Friday and ends on Saturday at sundown). Yet, the New Testament teaches that the "Law," meaning the Old Testament, is the school master with so many laws (many which are so hard, even impossible, to keep), to show us that ALL have come short of the glory of God. We can not attain God's approval by keeping the Law. It doesn't mean we mustn't, it means we can't.

In other words, Ro, if you keep some of the laws in the ten commandments-- good for you, and you should...but did you know God didn't just give Moses ten commandments? He gave him hundreds! Study about it.

The New Testament teaches us that ever since Jesus Christ died and rose again, He became the Lord of the Sabbath...meaning every day is the Sabbath as far as He's concerned; not in a literal sense but that we should worship Him every day as if it were the Sabbath.

As I said, we can not attain God's approval by keeping the Law with the worshipping on Sabbaths; sacrificing bulls, doves, sheep; stonning rebelious kids; nor any of the hundreds of commandments in the Old Testament. We attain God's approval by what Jesus did on the cross...and our faith in what He did for us, not by our keeping of any religious rules of worship.

The reasons most Christians celebrate a day of praise or worship on Sundays is mainly because Christ arose on Sunday.

Ro, if you want to celebrate it on a Tuesday at midnight with your friends, feel free, Ro. Jesus said, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20

If you are Jewish, you very well could be still observing the Sabboth on Saturdays.

Christians started observing on Sunday, the day Christ arose, because many Jewish Christians were still observing the Sabboth with nonbelieving Jews in order to keep from being killed.

It evolved into Sundays and just stayed that way.
Some Christians do still have their worship services on Saturdays, one that I can think of are the 7th day adventists.
THere is certainly nothing wrong with worshipping on Saturday.

Now GOD is never Mad when you worship him,
He prefers seven days a week.
What is wrong is if you pick a day to worship him to fit around your lifestyle. Meaning well, this week we are going to do it on Sunday, but next week , we are busy, so we will do it on Saturday. This puts GOD behind something else that you find more important, so therefore you just worshipped a false GOD, whatever that thing was that you put ahead of GOD.

From a Christian Faith pov God never says anywhere in The Bible to change to Sunday worship... it was changed by the Roman catholic cult as a demonstration of their power... that is dirctly from there own history. and even John-Paul II admitted it... RCs claim thay have such authority...

But God did not say so in what we have preserved ir His written Word..

The Sabbath is Saturday... accourding to The commandment og God in Exodus 20:9-11... no where in The Bible is that changed. jesus even confermed that we are to obay the ten commandments...not delete the second and spliot another to make a new tenth as did the RCs.

I am not a 7th day adventist... I do not agree much with their doctrins... But they are right on that one...

The commandment goes "Keep holy the Sabbath" Technically, the Sabbath, in Hebrew, is the last day of the week. Sunday, here in the US, is viewed as the last day of the week. However, in the Catholic religion, they include a mass on Saturday early evening (in addition to Sunday services) in observance of "keeping holy the Sabbath"

I try to follow the rules of my religion, which is my spiritual guide in life.

My opinion is, that God loves us all, even people who do not worship at all, however, we will all have to answer to him when we die.

The Sabath is on Saturday, that is the Jewish day of rest and worship required by God for Jews. Christians worship every day. Christians go to church on Sunday because that is the day Jesus rose from the dead.

I don't think so. He says "honor the sabbath and keep it holy," but it doesn't seem to me which sabbath you honor so long as you honor it. The days of the week were named by men, not God. God just wants the seventh day kept holy because He rested on the seventh day and it fits with the natural rhythm of life He created for us. Some argue that Sunday is the first day of the week, not the last, but that is only because our man-made calendar put it there. I think it could be Tuesday or Wednesday for all He really cares.

God would be made if you don't worship Him at all. He didn't specify a particular day or time to worship Him. In fact, the Bible says we should worship Him all the time -- in every thing we think, say, and do.

No religion has the monopoly of beliefs.

But, hey?! Why wait for a Sunday or Saturday and make it a big deal? You can worship him anytime.

I am confused as I never read in his written word anything about worshiping God - however I have read where he was upset for worshiping false gods. God ask for praise - my own understanding would be everyday. If your talking about grouping together in a little building along with others. I really do not see any benefit this could have. Because God does not judge people by which faith they have nor which building the group at or by those you hang around with but by which is in your heart.

haha no! Of course not; any time is a good time to worship God. In my religion, we have a worship meeting on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, AND Saturday. Why would God tell you "dont worship me on any day but 1!" hehe :)

Jesus said the sabath was made for man, not man for sabath.
We are suppose to take one day of rest & praise God. Sunday got chosen because that was the day Jesus rose again, & when the disciples & early christians met in the upper room.Christ did not rebuke them then, so why now 2,000 yrs later. If you choose to worship a sat, then so be it, Sun so be it... but do it for God NOT for man.Do not please society for showing up to service, do what is right before God.
