I know you must really miss him. Your father is such a brave and wonderful person for fighting for our country.
Make cards for him. Write letters that remind him how much you love him. Also, I would make friends with other people who have fathers that are in the army. That would be a good support for you.

what i think is a cute thing to do is go to one of those tech. stores in the mall they usually sell those picture frames with the built in sound recorder. Get one for you and him . You say something to him and put your picture in it and visa versa. Also you give him something that means something to you and the other way around so when you miss each other you have something close to hold while you can listen to his voice and that way you'll never forget how he sounds. When he comes back he can give you back the thing you treasure and you can give the thing he treasures. Hope this makes you feel a little better about missing your dad.Sorry but be proud of him not many people can do his job it takes real courage and strength in a person to leave everything that you know and love.

Get a camcorder and talk to it like you would talk to him. Take it around with you and record things that you want him to see and know about. Once a week, send him the recordings so that he gets a chance to see you and hear your voice. He's really going to miss you, the rest of the family, and home, so this will help him to feel closer to everyone and not left out of the family life. Maybe he can get a little camcorder and take it with him, and do the same thing, so that he can send home messages that are really him talking, in his voice, and he can show you everything he sees - where he lives, his friends, whatever. Good luck, and I'll say a prayer for you guys.

One of the most important things for you to do is to let him know you support him and thank him for doing something to make sure you can always be free. Also a very nice thing you can do is each month send him a special gift. Make him a personal photo album of the family, pets, friends, anything that is going on in your families lives at that time. Make it like a scrap book with notes on the sides about what was going on when the pictures where taken. This is something he will cherish for the rest of his life, and will be able to share with his friends there. In between times of sending this, always write him. There is a website you can go to to show your support. It is supportourtroops.com Take care and tell him for me there are a lot of Americans that truly thank him for keeping us free. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS.

Get a camera and document important events for him with the camera that are going on in your life, maybe send a weekly letter with pictures -- this will help keep you busy and he will love getting pictures from you. You can either use a digtal camera and email or the old fashioned way and develop your film and send it to him, either way he would love it. Really a year will fly by before you know it. I wish you luck.

Write to him at least once a week. Keep a journal of everything you do, including photos so he can look at it all when he comes home. Send him some homemade goodies (cookies, brownies, etc.) that you have made yourself. Before you know it, the year will be over and he'll be back home with you.

Call him if you can. If not, write him every time you think of him. You can write one letter and add to it several times a day for several days. Just tell him about what's going on in your life, what you're thinking, how much you miss him, whatever. Talk to him on paper like you would talk to him in person. I know it seems like a lifetime, but it's just a year. It'll pass much quicker than you think. Hang in there, Sweetie!

There is lots you can do. You can write a journal while he is away, that way he can see your thoughts in a every day sort of way. You can also keep a tape recorder handy and make "notes" though out your day and mail them to him. Email him. Write letters to him. Dont forget that as much as you miss him, he misses you.
