I am a mixed army brat myself, but was just curious because I use to live in an Army town and I would see alot of soldiers dating people outside their race. I'm just curious to know why it's so common in the military.

Honestly, I bet there aren't any more interracial military couples than there are in the general population. The military is like a cross-section, or microcosm, of the general population. When you are INSIDE that cross-section, you notice things more because the population is so small.
For example, a lot of people in the military community tend to notice a lot of cheating in the military; however, I'm sure it happens no more frequently in the military than it does in general American society. Again, when you are in a smaller population, when the communication lines are more direct, when news and gossip carries more quickly, when you see the same population of people day after day, then you start to notice it -- you start to pay attention to it more.

Because those in the military have been able to get out and see that race is not all that matters.

In the military, everyone is told that race doesn't matter. They're all in the military, and that's what unites them, regardless of race.

I don't think that it's just a military thing. Most of the world has finally excepted that love is love in any shape, form, or color.
